Help Screen Dimming vs. Timeout

Is there a way to separate the dimming vs. sleeping timeout? It appears that if I set the screen timeout to any value, it dims first, then sleeps. I have the "never sleep when charging" setting checked, and what it does when charging is the screen dims, but the moment does not sleep. Is there a way to prevent the dimming while charging?

May I ask why you want it that way? B/c there's an app called screebl that may kinda suit your needs.

You can use "Screen Mode" to keep your screen awake. This widget has 3 settings, one for normal sleeping like you have now, one for keeping the lock screen from coming on when waking the phone and one for constant waking (this is what you want).

Screebl works too, but only if you have it tilted in your car the right way...
make sure in Settings/sounds and display/auto brightness is not checked of? that would cause it to dim...below that you can adjust brightness..;)

I want it to not dim while charging so that if I'm using something like navigation in my car, the screen won't dim and I'll still be able to see it.

I'll check out screebl
You can try Locale (though you will likely not want to pay so much for it). Or you can try screebl for free. Screebl is what I use for the situation that you are describing (and for everything else). You can go into screebl's options and adjust the tilt/pitch that causes screebl to activate (anything to just barely above laying horizontal, to nearly vertical).

Screebl works great in my car mount when driving, or just sitting at home with it propped up against my keyboard. The screen will not automatically turn off or dim unless I lay my phone down flat. Give screebl a try, I have no affiliation to them, but I don't know how I ever used to use my phone without it.
