Whats up guys? I know I'm a little late to the root crowd. I had originally upgraded to the leaks. Gotta work on that patience ya know . I've tried a few of the ROMs out there. Most of them are ok, but I wouldn't say I'm in love with any of them. Anyway I just wanted to check with everyone and see what ROMs you guys are using and why you use them. Stability issues? speed? Things you like about them, dislike about them.

Sense-able 2.0

Pros:
-fast
-has no problems with Google Maps Navigation (unlike the standard 2.1 root)
-very sleek looking icons/wallpaper/lock screen
-relatively stable, which brings me to...

Cons:
-just a few glitches:
-Sometimes fc when editing contacts
-browser fc (rarely though)
-can't view pictures in Gmail app (no different than the other 2.1 roms, or so I've read)
-sometimes I can't hear incoming callers and I have to call them back (seems to be fixed with reboot, and I'm not sure if it's due to the fact that I also flashed the Dialerone patch)

That's all I can think of at the moment. I can't wait for the future of this rom. :D

EDIT: How could I forget!? One of the biggest pros for me is that ALL SENSE WIDGETS are still available for use!

VanillaDroid ROM by GrdLock

Pros:
Fast
Stable (one reboot in the week I've been using it, changing LWP)
Sense removed (most of it, may be a con for some)
DialerOne integrated
Wireless Tethering
LWP
JIT dalvik executables to boost performance- some have reported minor problems with this but I haven't had any issues.

Cons:
Bookmarks- force close on stock browser.
Three screens -not an issue if you use Helix or another Home
Alarm doesn't work- Better Alarm is included with the ROM and works
DialerOne- issues dialing ##778. Had to make a contact for it to work

we should convince the 2 devs to work together to make a super rom thats a combination of both roms.

AMEN!

+1,000,000,000.00 I can only imagine the colaborative brain child from these two!

It would be like if superman and wonderwoman started bumpin uglies could you imagine the result. :D

I'm currently using sensable. I do like sense but I could live with out it. If it wasn't for an inop alarm clock on the vanilla rom I would be using that. Where I work has no place for tardyness and I'm very punctual to say the least.

I rely on my phone for the alarm so I flashed back to sensable the very second I had to pull my battery to turn it off. Besides the fact that it is VERY vanilla, I mean where talking minimum amount of widgets as well. I wish there had been a 2g/3g widget left on it so I could cycle my data on and off.

The only replacements I've found in the market are just shortcuts that take me to the settings and I was like what's the point :/

I'm with raphifix I am running sense-able 2.0 with a nandroid backup and love it. But as we all know there are some apps which cannot be backed up and that we do not have access too since verizon has not formally released 2.1 yet . For this I revert back to code red rom(courtesy of jcases ric roll) which is an android 1.5 rom also haveing a nandroid backup of this so I can have access to apps on both the android 1.5 market and the 2.1 market. I like the ability to within 5 minutes being able to go from 1.5 to 2.1 or vise versa.

I have that code red rom but never put it on because of it being apr1 when it came out.

Does it play some video everytime you revert or what happens???

ya it plays the video but what I did before I did the nandroid backup I turned the phone ringer off so that as the video plays there is no sound as the phone is booting up. This is a good system for the time being until verizon releases 2.1 and we then start seeing some of the apps that are only available on the 1.5 market

ROM: Kevlar Special ( I didnt make it, just customized the hell out of it)
Includes: Sense-able v2 by jamezelle + JIT by GrdLock + Senseless theme by zifnab06

Pros:
Very fast
Stable
Sense removed
Stock Dialer (dialerone doesnt allow you to have custom ringtones for diff callers)
Great battery life
Removed a lot of un-needed apps

Cons:
Sense removed (i know some people love it)
No LWP (can always be added with a script later if wanted)
Lock screen removed (i like it now, but took some time to get used to the N1 lock screen)

Can you reboot the phone or power it off? When I tried that ROM, I couldnt do that and that is a big issue for me. Even with adb commands I couldnt do it.

It still hangs on reboot, but I use "quick boot" so that does not bug me at all, there is definitley alot of upside to this ROM ....I do still have my nand back up of Sense-able though .....

it keeps getting better with each release

Edit: oh ya ....pictures in GMAIL work also ......

Nice. I will be flashing to this ROM while I sit in traffic on my way home after work. Thanks. Heard this ROM is best around right now.
