Major blow for Hero in the UK

Orange have been heavily promoting the Hero in the UK, since Orange couldn't sell the iPhone.

Walk into an Orange shop, and the Hero takes the pride of place (along with the front cover of their current mag).

I wonder where the Hero will fit in now this has happened:

BBC NEWS | Technology | Orange announces UK iPhone deal
Hero is better than the iPhone so it is probably more of a case of where will the iPhone fit in now this has happened.

How is the iPhone cooler than an Aston Martin! Stupid people!

....is the correct answer! :D

Extrapolating the Clarkson Theorum Of Desirability, "Hi there Angelina, would you like to see my Aston?" might just work. "Would you like to see my iPhone?" is just going to get you a sore face.... Therefore an Aston is cooler. :D

What is being forgotten here is that there is about to be an onslaught of Android devices into the market and it will truly be a force to be reckoned with by the time Orange gets the older iPhone technology - it will be a different ball game by then and I am certain that the iPhone will have lost a lot of the desirability it has had up till now.

This could be a good thing for current Orange Hero users though. I daresay swarms of people will take up the iPhone through them. Pretty soon those swarms of people are going to see that their data usage starts to creep ever closer to (or over) the 500MB data ceiling that Orange have, which may force Orange to reconsider setting a higher limit.

Doubt they will bestow it upon their existing customers though:(

I was hoping this would happen.

I can live with 500MB, but I don't wanna.

can you plz explain why its a major blow for hero, dont quit understand your tittle, or do you mean major blow for iphone?
The hero is much better than the iphone, i just sold my new iphone, because i just couldnt get on with it,
the only thing that lets the hero down for me is the lack of any great games, ive yet to find anything good, unlike the iphone

Should be interesting to see how Orange price the iPhone. If the pricing comes to near-enough what I'm currently paying for my HTC Hero I'll be annoyed.

As for Orange getting the iPhone and that causing the HTC Hero to take a backseat, I doubt it. If anything, it may help; people walk in for iPhone; still too expensive; gets recommended an HTC Hero. ;)
