This just started today. I took my phone out of my pocket and it was shut off. I tried to turn it on and it wouldn't do anything so I took the battery out and tried again. It started booting so I put it back into my pocket. I did this three times today and I'm not sure if it fully started up or not because I was at work and didn't have time to watch it boot. Anyways when I got home I turned it back on and it froze at the lock screen. It got to updating the time and it said no service and froze then 30 seconds to a minute later it shut down and wouldn't start without removing the battery. I did a factory reset by holding down the volume down button and pressing and releasing the power button. The problem is still occurring. Any suggestion? I've had no problems prior to this. Thank you

Strange update... as soon as it booted I unlocked it and then made a call to the landline. It rang and then I used the phone for a good ten minutes just kept scrolling while still in the call. Well I stopped using the phone and the screen went black BUT it is still connected to the call it's been a few minutes and it's still transmitting. I also was able to test the battery using *#*#4636#*#* and it said it's good. So I'm thinking maybe it's not the battery? o_O Baffling.

Not rooted.. I mean I just kept doing things to see if it would freeze. Open and closed contacts messages settings just kept the phone busy and the moment I stopped using it the screen went black and I couldn't get the display to turn back on but the phone was obviously on otherwise it wouldn't have been in the call still?

I moved your thread here:)
When you said you factory reset, I assume you did that within the bootloader screen?

Do you think that you are on the latest software update?
The reason I ask is, depending on the software you are running, we may or may not be able to run an ruu.
If it is up to date, then not much we can do besides root it and troubleshoot from there.

Or, bring it in for repair. Sometimes Sprint has other methods that are faster fixes.

4.02.651.2 710rd that is the software version it is on.

and yes I did the reset from the bootloader screen.

I think I may take it into sprint and see what they say. The water mark things are red though so will they even look at it? I'm pretty sure that's not the issue because this happened a year and 2 months ago and it wasn't submerged just sat it in a puddle on the kitchen counter

Hello,

I just joined the forums trying to search for answers around the same subject. My phone (evo design) has similar symptoms. I went ahead and purchase a battery to try verifying if the battery was bad. The phone worked for a while but it started shutting off again. In order to re boot battery had to be pull. Otherwise it wouldn't even take a charge.

When it started happening it shut down randomly and then it would be fine for several days. On a recent trip I was using it for music and GPS while driving. It died on me and I had to finish the trip with my wife's phone.

When I got home I read this thread, I first erased all the cache. Then tried uninstalling the most recent apps installed. When that failed I did a factory reset. Finally I purchased a new battery. The phone still does the same thing. It works for a few minutes or several hours but then it crashes.

Not sure what else to do so I am turning to this friendly forum to see if I can get some advice from experts in the subject :).

I will greatly appreciate any input and guidance you can provide. Thanks!
