Hi Experts,
I just flashed the MidnightRom Jellybean to the rooted, s-off virgin mobile EVO V 4G, but it keeps crashing and rebooting for about every 5 seconds after booting into the UI. I tried multiple wipes and flashes, but it remains.
And I tried to flash back to Harmonia 3.17, but it also stucks there.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

I'm not well versed in using TWRP. If you're not wiping data, that can be a problem I suppose. I'm sure it can wipe data, but since it's not spelled out, I wouldn't want to mislead you.

Until a Guide shows up who can get you back on track, or someone with TWRP experience...I suggest you install Negalite BluRom...there's a thread for it in the root section of this forum. That ROM has an Aroma install launcer which lets you choose options for the install (pretty sweet if you ask me...you install ONLY what you want to install). You can do a full wipe from the installation of BluRom during the Aroma options.

That will get you a working ROM...which will let you install 4EXT recovery which is what most people here use...and it's VERY easy to do a full wipe with that recovery.

EDIT:

Factory Reset sounds like it would delete the data partition to me...but don't try that until someone with more knowledge says to.

What Hboot are you on? Jellybean roms won't work on any hboot higher than 1.50

Actually I'm not sure, I recommend listening to LakersDroid and using 4EXT, you can grab it from 4ext.net.
OB

I'm not sure he can just grab it from 4EXT. The initial installation requires a working ROM with root access and busybox IIRC.

This is why I suggested that he install Negalite BluRom...which has a full wipe built into the Aroma Installer...which will get him up and running with a working ROM...he can then install 4EXT.

You can flash the recovery without any rom whatsoever.

fastboot flash recovery nameoffile

Yes I agree, but 4EXT isn't distributed that way to my knowledge. When you get it from their website, it's an APK that must be installed in the ROM. Only when you've run the app and selected the version you want...does it download and install it on your phone...and then the flashable .zip is created placed on your SD card for future use.

If someone were to link him to a hosted, flashable .zip file...then he could do it like you state...otherwise, he'll need a working ROM to get 4EXT installed. Sending him to the 4EXT website isn't going to help him unless I am mistaken.

If I am wrong, someone please correct me...

Thanks for all kind helps. Here is the update
1. I successfully installed the bluerom.
2. and then the Harmonia
3. at some point (sorry I forgot the whether it's before 1 or 2), I installed the TWRP 2.3.3
4. I'm trying to install the mignight (non Jelly bean) rom.
Will post here on how it goes.
I also plan to follow http://androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-a...thread-virgin-mobile-htc-evo-v-4g-aka-3d.html to install 4ext.
Thanks again!

Glad to hear blurom worked. You probably updated it after blurom as you would need that to wipe for harmonia. I still think you should switch to 4ext imho.

installing 4ext is a breeze. Just download the apk from 4ext.net and install it on your phone. then open the app and follow instructions.

After installing the 4ext, I could install the midnighJ rom.
@miked6875, I didn't do factory reset which sounds scary:)
@Palmetto Fellow, I didn't actually use the bluerom (not a big fan of the blue:)), but I definitely keep it in my SD:)
Thank you guys!

You basically have to wipe everything EXCEPT SD CARD including a factory reset for the rom to install right. As I said never had a problem. JUST DON'T WIPE THE SD CARD...;)
