Surprised by this

I'm baffled by this phone, I got it to replace my broken Razr Maxx HD because I didn't want to break the bank. It exceeds all my expectations and actually runs a decent bit faster than my Razr. Not the best build quality but I really enjoy having a 4.3in screen again. Sad that they are advertising this for moms haha anyone else get this who isn't getting it for their first smartphone?

This isn't my first smartphone either. And I love it. I don't have to have the fastest, top of the line stuff, but Dang this is up there. Couldn't be more pleased... Sure it isn't the best build quality, but then again it isn't that bad.

Ya I've seen some pretty ugly and badly build budget phones this is far better. I like the way the back feels and the side accents. Hopefully that root appears soon.

I got the Lucid 2 as a work phone and it's fast and has good battery life. Took me by surprise I wasn't expecting to like it.

Yeah, it's a pretty good LOL phone. I'm using it as my business phone, as a business owner I run allot of apps especially social media stuff thats usually heavy on RAM and slows phones down but it's kept up with everything...

My review:

I'd complain about the battery life, but I've been running on full brightness with wifi/bluetooth/GPS/mobile data/speakers on full blast, while walking around the house bumping into walls because I can't put it down... I guess having to recharge it twice or more a day isn't that bad, considering how I'm using/abusing it.

I am (in case you couldn't tell) pleasantly surprised with this phone. I've always loved LG's, have had wonderful experiences with them. They always seem to do exactly what I want, and they last. At least in my experience... My old ENV3 had better speakers, and I will miss my keyboard, but I'm surprised how fast I've gotten with the touchscreen. I replaced the keyboard app with "Perfect Keyboard" only for the arrows. That was my only complaint with the stock keyboard app, maybe I just couldn't find them.

I was in a hurry to root this thing before I even got it, but honestly? I'm a lot more happy with it stock than I expected. It will be the first android phone that I'll be rooting, and I would like to thank everyone here for the awesome collection of information you have provided, your posts here have been extremely helpful in getting me up to speed. Hopefully I won't have any problems, but it's good to know I can come here for help/reference.

I did have to do a factory reset on it, however, as I kept getting the "phone.android.com stopped working" error, but I think it was because I had 2000 contacts in my gmail account and I panicked when it tried to sync them all and I think I aborted it or something, not sure exactly, like I said, I panicked. I did not want 2000 fricking contacts in my phone. It was my fault, and I'm not saying the phone can't handle 2000+ contacts... But I figured I'd mention it. I'm happy to report that I haven't had a single problem with it in a weeks worth of use since the factory reset.

While I love the look and design of the phone chassis, it just did not fit well in my hands... Maybe it's because they are small and womanly, but I kept feeling like it would fall out of my hand because it was so thin... I almost dropped it trying to change the volume. I picked up a Trident Aegis case for it on ebay, on a whim really, and now I'm in heaven. I'm sure there are better cases for it, but this one suits me perfectly. Came with a car charger and screen protector too. It feels much better in my hand now, and I'm not constantly worrying about smudging up the back camera.

Speaking of the camera, let's be honest, it's not so good in dark areas, but it's a phone, and I bet it beats the iPhone camera. The flash seems to work great, and brightly lit shots look as they should, in my opinion. I took some beautiful shots of the sunrise this morning and was more than happy with the results. The HDR looked especially nice, and I was surprised to see HDR mode.

I've been out of the loop for so long, HDR is probably in all the smart phones these days. Some review complained about background noise when filming 1080p, but I didn't notice it. I've also heard complaints about the speaker, but I'm just happy with the 3.5mm headphone jack. Although the volume to my headphones is way too low. Does anyone have a fix/app for that? TIA

I didn't expect 4gb of bloatware though. I call it bloatware because of my inexperience, I'm sure someone here will correct my ignorance, but I wasn't expecting the entire OS to use up half my internal storage... Maybe that's an Android thing and not an LG thing, but I'm guessing it's Verizon and LG and Android combined.

But that's what 64gb microSD cards are for, right? I got this phone for "free" with contract from verizon, but I think I would be just as happy if I had paid retail for it.

Can you live without GPS on all the time? I've found that single, simple change made the most difference in battery life on my smartphones. And apps like Google Now work fine with just Google and Verizon location services on.

I get great battery life on my Lucid 2, at 63% brightness (nothing special about 63%) with automatic unchecked (except for nighttime use when I just toggle it on and it dims the screen appropriately), and wi-fi and bluetooth always on.

It's much worse with the wireless charging back cover, because that starts a steeply rounded taper almost immediately, giving you just a little squared strip on the side on which to get a good grip. And they don't make cases for that larger back (I've a cheap silicone case on order, hoping it will stretch to fit).

I've also heard complaints about the speaker, but I'm just happy with the 3.5mm headphone jack. Although the volume to my headphones is way too low. Does anyone have a fix/app for that? TIA

Just checked mine with headphones and an Amazon MP3. Max volume is about where I would want to prudently max out, for my hearing's sake. But my MP3 players went louder. I can understand you wanting this phone's volume to go louder. Have you tried other source material, especially store-bought, which would probably have some more standard loudness, to see if it's still low? I've tried loudness apps before but they didn't really work for me. Maybe also try a more efficient set of headphones.

For the headphones, ive noticed that the ear bud from semi-new iPods seem to work the best for me. Would like to see some sort of volume booster for when I connect it to my car stereo with an aux in connection. With both volumes up all the way its still a little week.

And for the bloatware, get the app called root uninstall (if its rooted). That app let's you get rid of all that worthless stuff

Even with the stock larger battery the Lucid2 is thinner than many. It just fits into jeans watch pockets.

The stock camera app is missing light meter control, i.e. average, center-weighted, spot. So far one downloaded camera app with meter control does not seem to change anything. I tried about a half dozen apps that turned out not to have a meter control mode, and found this one on this forum after posting a request. But since the meter mode doesn't work, I'm using mainly the stock camera app.

Also the pictures lose their sharpness when snapped and saved. The picture is worse than the viewfinder display when taken. This is very disappointing. My installed downloaded camera app does save a picture a little bit closer to the viewfinder image. The downloaded app mentioned here is Camera FV-5. Overall, it is my favorite downloaded one.
