I'm having some major System Idle issues. What could it be?

Here are some screens. That 22hrs number is not correct, I had to plug it in this morning. I went to bed with 30% and woke up to 4%. All apps closed.

I would install Android Assistant from the play store and go under process and see if theres anything in there draining it.

pull battery out, charge phone, and then monitor battery usage. sometimes a clean start is all you need to resolve rogue battery issues.

What kind of reception do you have where you live?

This plays a large role in your battery life.

Also if you have location settings turned on for Google, it'll access your GPS to check your location every so often. Also depending on your weather apps they sometimes will show maps for finding your location.

This didn't show up until JB for me on my LTEvo, so maybe its something with JB and Google services.

not exactly. it depends on how the phone is being used. it's also very possible that the usage reporting or something other app is incorrectly reporting. the best way to diagnose it is to start over by pulling the battery and monitor again. if you can replicate the problem then there's an issue that needs to be addressed. doing a deep dive at this point could be a wild goose chase. good luck.

my system idle is at 4% and is usually right around there

there must be some processes in idle that are running on your handset. try clearing RAM and maybe adjusting your settings? not sure what all IDLE includes.

What does your battery breakdown look like? Click on the graph and it will show you.

A few ideas:

1) Go to Settings > Location services and uncheck "Use wireless networks". Your battery drain might be Google services trying to continuously find your location.

2) Make sure Latitude is turned off by going into Maps > Settings > Location Settings and make sure Location Reporting is set to "Do not update my location" and Enable location sharing, Enable location history, and Automatic check-ins are all unchecked.

Yep, latitude/maps is a killer with automatic check-ins on the S3 and it is for me on the S4 as well. I thought I would give it a go to see if things had changed but it has not and I don't get much of anything out of it. Google now, same. I get little out of it and often find it intrusive and annoying while it uses enough extra battery to show a difference at the end of the day. Course if you are getting something useful out these things you'll want to keep it or them but a good general rule is if you don't use it, lose it. Also make sure your various data pullers like weather widgets and the like are not refreshing any faster than you want them to.

For comparison my device idle is 3%, cell standby 5%, android system 7% and 36 minutes of calls clock in at 11%. Largest single user is as expected screen at 47%.

The previous fellow is spot on, a number of people have posted up over on xda about the automatic check in killing batt so that would be my first stop.
