Help HTC One Compatibility with in-car Audio/Bluetooth/Hands Free

My HTC One won't transfer phone numbers over bluetooth to my 2014 Kia Cadenza. My wife's Samsung SII works fine. Does anyone have any information on this issue?

Howdy moldman and welcome!

I know that certain manufacturers of the car kits and phones don't always jibe, and sometimes the latest ain't necessarily the greatest. In other words, not all features are supported with a certain pair of devices (My ford sync has never had all its features enabled by ANY phone I've connected (Palm Pre, EVO3D, SGS2).
My only recommendation is
1) Try to ensure your car kit has latest update
2) Try to find a Kia forum that might have a similar issue/fix.
3) Hope that an update for either will fix your issue.

I have a 2012 Volvo C30 and I found that it paired and synced with my HTC One just fine.

Granted, all I ever do is answer the phone when someone calls...but so far I've not noticed any missing numbers in my contact list either.

This will vary from car to car. I don't have any issues either.

Upon first pairing the phone to my vehicle, my contacts were automatically downloaded to the HU. I have that feature set to auto download.

I had this issue with my 2011 Ford Explorer Sync but I did a Factory Reset on my Sync and then paired my phone again. It pulled my phone book over just fine the second time.

It always helps rebooting the phone and attempting the pairing process again. One time it took me 4 reboots to pair my phone successfully.

Hi All,

I know when I'm shopping for a new phone I always wonder if it will work/sync with the Handsfree functions in my car...but it seems like there's never much of a database for one to cross-reference phone brands with vehicle brands.

I was thinking it wouldn't be a bad idea for those who have synced an HTC One with a vehicle's Bluetooth Audio or USB Audio to make a note of their vehicle's Model Year and Trim Package in this thread so that it could be used for future buyers and for troubleshooting with others who might be having issues.

I have a 2012 Volvo C30 R-Design, and my phone synced flawlessly after the C30's blue-tooth setup promptings. The audio quality is fantastic, and I can very easily make calls/accept calls with the steering wheel controls just like I could with my last phone (A Blackberry Bold 9700).

I tried using the Bluetooth Audio and that worked as well, with crisp sound quality and steering-wheel capable controlling. The only thing was that I was limited to shuffling through the songs on my phone randomly and I couldn't access any folders or artists by name like I can with my iPod once it's plugged into the USB drive.

I'll try plugging the USB into the Phone later tonight and see how it works.

Maybe when Google makes a car kit, we won't have any issues with androids pairing or having limited features... (yeah, but I can dream, can't I? )

This is my first phone that I was able to pair with my car...granted I only had my car for 3 months but the EVO Shift was one of the 2 devices that my Nissan Juke was not compatible with lol The One is the One!

My One works great with my Pioneer, all Bluetooth functions work.
Have you looked for firmware update for the car system?

I'm paired and address book downloaded with my 09 Fusion w/ Sync. No messaging are supported, however. But that has always been the case no matter what phone. I bet if I had a *cough* Windows *cough* phone *cough* it all would work...

Hi all, just an update. I guess all I had to do was to delete the pairing and re-pair. The first time around I didn't see the screen were I needed to allow the phone to transfer to the car. Everything works great now.

Is there a dock for this phone that auto enables car mode and Bluetooth? Or should I just buy a CD slot or vent dock and an NFC Tag to enable those? Id like as few cords as possible..

Any advice/responses appreciated.

This probably depends on the car/stereo. I can stream music on my phone and it will play on my car stereo through BlueTooth. But I have a 2012 VW Jetta. On my car I have a media button that I hit and then select BT Audio.

i havent tried to move my contacts over yet. i mainly use it for incoming calls and to play music. it connects quickly. i was happy to see htc finally lets the song information to be shown on my screen in my infiniti. in the past that information wasnt shown.

My One works GREAT in my 09 Fusion for everything except messaging (no phone I've had works with that, tho). That said, I couldn't get BT audio to work with the two Toyotas I rented this past week. The phone portion worked well, but couldn't get the player to work consistently. I use Mort Player for my audio books, and it MIGHT be the app, since it acted a bit funky with the aux cord/jack, too. I looked at getting another app to try, but the best ones were paid apps, and I'm too cheap to spend money on a theory - even just buck.

Okay so I picked up my 09' G5 Coupe today and begin messing with the Bluetooth almost immediately.

It seems as though the Bluetooth is for calls only
Helpful but was hoping to be able to listen to my Google music through the Bluetooth

So now I have 2 options .. it says it has a "iPod ready" usb port and an aux port

So when I get back to my charger I'm going to see if I take the USB from the AC Charge block and plug it into the usb port if I'll maybe get charging and music through one cord..

If not it looks like I'll buy a cigarette lightr charger, mounttek CD mount or a vent mount and an aux cord.

It seems like you have found your own solution out there. And I'm sure it was a much cheaper solution. Just wanted to mention that HTC has a Bluetooth Audio accessory for assisting with wireless music transmission.

I haven't used it so I cannot comment on its use. I do know that the cost is somewhat high to purchase it and you could probably find a cheaper solution. Just wanted to throw it out there as an idea for you or anyone else that may come along

I am having issues with receiving text messages through Ford Sync.

Ironically I can send messages through Sync.

The phone is also not being recognized for Sync services menu, but it is paired successfully with SYNC and will otherwise make and receive calls.

Yup I have mine paired and messaging works. Make sure you have Message Access turned on in Bluetooth advanced settings on the One. If you had other devices paired with sync beforehand are still having issues, I recommend a master reset of sync and then re-pair them.

I do have message access turned on in the advanced menu. It is turned on in Ford Sync as well. I did a reset on the Ford sync as well. Still nothing.

I had heard that pulling and resetting the car fuse associated with SYNC might work and it did.

I've had some fun with connections recently. I replaced the Head unit in my car.

There are 3 methods to connect Phones to stereos; Via AV lead for standard stereo connection with out only and no control. Via USB to provide limited control and stereo connection, control varies from device to device greatly and most are only fully conpatable with iOS. And lastly Bluetooth again varing from device to device.

However with the Jellybean update the Mass storeage option has been removed from Android. This has created a number of issues as nearly all USB connection options will no longer work! (well done Google )

Hats off to the guy in Halfords, who was very helpfull while we systematically tried USB connections on all headunits on display...None of which would connect correctly to the phone. We then proceeded to try all the Bluetooth units, Again there were lots of issues and most are only compatible with iOS. Finally one connected, a Kenwood I believe...but the so called Red illumination Glowed Pink!... No Way
Down to desperation I noted that on the website they had another Sony model which was not on display...The store guy offered to install the unit in to my car for testing, so off we went.
Success!, Everything worked. being the lastest model it had the latest bluetooth standards and specifically compatible with Android phones. The Sony MEXBT3900U:- Halfords | Sony MEXBT3900U CD/MP3 Player
Bluetooth connection is excellent and easy. one setup it automatically connects without touching anything when i'm near my car. Phone numbers can be stored on the headunit and dialled. It announces when you get a text and can read then to you. Call sound quality is excellent and even though there is only a small hiden mic on the headunit I've had no complaints as it seem to pick up really well. music wise sound is good (just have to balance sound on phone as phone on full will cause distorsion went sent to headunit, mid way works) volume goes very loud. full control of tracks via unit and remote. Stream music whilst using sat Nav which then switchs to announcements at junctions.
Just about everything you could want and expect.
Only critisism would be Sonys App remote software (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sony.evc.app.launcher&feature=search_result#?t=W10.), I can't seem to get it to work correctly on the phone, but the HTC Ones built in Car mode app is excellent and connects great.

Mine works great with my JVC KW-R900BT. Only downside is I can't figure out how to get Tasker to disable beats when connected through bluetooth. I like my car's audio with a flat EQ due to my music choice.
