Those of you who have a Nexus, it does EVERYTHING right? Play movies, videos ..ect. Well my question is I was going to buy an HD2 today on my work line, but didn't justify spending that much on something I'm afraid I won't use often since I'm pretty sure I'll go right back to my Nexus.

Since my Ipod broke a year ago, I am debating now if I should get an Ipod Touch. But don't know how often I would use it since my Nexus does everything. So my question is do you guys still use your Ipod Touches, Zune Hds'..ect?

I want to make sure I get my money's worth. I was also debating wether or not to get the Archos 5 since it has Android on it, or wait for another tablet. I'm not sure ... all I know is I need second piece of hardware for my Nexus.

ive got a nexus and i bought an ipod touch this week. i prefer the ipod for music and i have some audio books on itunes that the nexus cant play.

plus theres alot of decent apps and games so with a touch and a nexus you get the best of both.

I have a Nexus with 16gb (soon to be 32gb) card. I also have a Sansa Clip+ solely for music in the car. The Nexus I use for everything else..

For me, the whole point of having a smart phone is to have just once device that does everything I need it to do. There is no way I am going spend $530 on a phone then another $$$ on an ipod. While the N1 doesn't handle music like the iPhone 3G did (I am a two year iPhone 3G user who recently converted to the N1) it's still good enough for what I ask it to do (listen to music on the train, while running, also have a BT adapter for my home stereo, they only thing I am missing is an adapter for the car). If I honestly felt that this $530 phone couldn't play music to my liking I would convert back to the iPhone, I really do expect my smartphone to do everything, that is why I use it.

P.S. I love my N1.

Says it for me as well. I used a zune HD and unsurprisingly it works far better for playing media. Still the nexy does get it done without undue hassle and I find that my zune has been setting on the counter unloved. I guess for me I would say that the nexus fails at meeting the capabilities of a good media player but it does get it done well enough that the bonus of only having to screw with one device wins out for me.

i have a 16gb zune hd that i still use for music. I havent even put music on my nexus one because i only have a 4gb sd card for it and it cant hold all my music. I prefer a dedicated music player over a phone because battery life for phones are always going to be less than battery life for mp3 players. id rather have my zune die and not listen to music then have my phone die and lose contact with my friends. I will say this though, i bought my zune before my nexus but if i were to buy an mp3 player after the nexus id buy something cheap with good music quality like the sansa clip. No need for all those bells and whistles like the touch screen and wifi when youre just going to use your 3.7" phone screen for that.

Same situation for me, and i feel the same way too.

I've got an iPod Touch and use that just as much as my Nexus. I use it for music and for surfing the web at home. The N1 is a great phone, but I like the Touch a little bit more for surfing (i'm talking hours a day) and for listening to music. That being said, I didn't buy a smartphone to consolidate devices as some of you have, so carrying two devices doesn't bother me. In fact, I have an iPod classic as well, which gets used in the car.

I think I would be more apt to use my Nexus One for my music if I could get the following:

  1. More than 32GB of storage
  2. FM Radio (I use my Zune for this a LOT)
  3. Better music interface

Those are the big 3 for me.

I doubt you need 32GB+ worth of music on you at all times, when I had an ipod, I put everything I owned on it put it on shuffle and ended up just skipping all the time. With my Nexus I just use an 8GB, works for me cause I usually just keep updating it with new, out with the old, and can always transfer them back onto it, not a problem for me, or a lot of people I guess.

When I got my 16 GB memory card for the nexus one I gave my Sansa E280 to my son. Now I use the nexus one for everything. The only thing I gave up was the ability to play .flac files via rockbox- my music library is stored on a HDD in .flac format and I hate having to convert for the sake of playing on a different device.

I've been using oggdrop to convert the .flac files to .ogg and it even copies the tags so conversion is fast and easy. Now I found AndLess which plays flacs so I guess there's no need to convert any more!

I have an ipod 5.5 30 GB with rockbox as the firmware. The files are 95% ogg @ quality 9.5 (~404 kb/s)
I have the CDs for my music, though; and I'm happy enough with lame v0, so I've thought about selling my ipod. The thing is that it's so freaking sweet with the rockbox; best player available (except for the larger disk models)

I actually just bought a refurbished Nano because my new car stereo has built-in iPod functionality (via USB). I never thought I'd own a single Apple piece of hardware, but this way I can load most all of my music onto the Nano, and leave it in the glove compartment. (The radio also has bluetooth, so I could use that from my phone as well, but the sound is better via USB.)

The Nexus is more than adequate for everyday walking around/at work music listening. (I do *no* streaming--it's all stuff I own.) And, like one of the commenters above said, I don't really *want* my entire collection on my Nexus--I want the stuff I enjoy listening to the most. It's fine to have a wider selection in the car, for long drives and whatnot.
