Root [T-Mobile] Help please I'm new :)

Hi everyone,

I've just bought the s4 and have got rid of my iPhone 5 which was jail broken. I'd like to think I'm moving on to better things here. Just wanted no a couple of things. Is there a tweak to trick my phone thinking its on wifi so I can use apps that require wifi only?. Secondly is there a good app for streaming movies in good quality. Thank you

To answer your first question, I don't know. I would like to find the same thing but haven't gotten around to looking that hard. I'm paying for unlimited data and I want to use it! A lot of times my data is faster than the wifi.

I use MX player for video. Great app!

Lol feel lost at the min with it but I'm getting there haha. I'm not rooted just yet I'm doing after work later I take it once rooted you have a app you down load tweaks and add sources like cydia if jailbroken

Nope you don't all you have to do after your rooted is download the app that requires root access and grant it permission. And that's it.

Before you root I would recommend just reading a lot. First, I would say update the firmware if you haven't already. Read this thread on rooting the phone. Also this one will explain how to use Odin.

Before you root your phone, you have to look up the info on it. if you're not careful, you could brick your phone. and after you root it, you download the apps that require root access from the google play store, and then something will pop up that says to grant this app permission from superuser. and you tap allow.

MX player is good for video. But no idea about WiFi. But after enabled WiFi, all the apps use WiFi connection, not the data.

I've watched a few you tube links how to root but I just can't seemb to get the samsung drivers installed right on my laptop which is running Windows 7. im getting the other download motochopoer but cant get drivers. it loads a icon on to desk top samsung driver but every time I click on the icon it just says this is already installed but I can't find it anywhere on my files. anyone help?. Thank you George

You can try plugging in your phone, go to device manager. See if it shows up, or some device with the exclamation point, select update driver and see if it installs. You could also install Samsung Kies. It will install the latest drivers.
