I was wondering whether there's any good universal remote software being developed in the Android ecosystem.

Does anyone know of anything under way or a related Linux project that could be re-adapted for Android?

Ideally LT it'd have all the functionality present in the highest end universal remotes today.
(assuming the underlying hardware is good)

cheers

Nothing? I know of gmote but it's basically just a media browser.
I have something "roughly" like this visualised... (see attached txt file)

I have an old Axim X50v which android is being ported to atm...
But progress is slow so I may have to find a more readily supported device soon.

Any thoughts/ideas/advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers

omfg, what a frackin useless forum...

I would suppose that since there was no responses ...that there are no developers working on remotes for tv and such ... since most of them use IR and most newer phones are no longer using IR....

Had a SE 610 that had an app for TV remote .. older phone model ... so think you might want to look for some older phone that still uses IR ...

It doesn't have to use IR at all, the general trend now is a handheld interfaces with a central controller device that takes Wifi commands from the handheld (and can send data back).

This controller device can send/receive in various home automation & consumer electronics formats. e.g. IR, proprietary RF, Bluetooth, wifi, ethernet, x10, rs232 etc....

Whether it still has IR or not is purely incidental albeit a nice bonus.
