Help Android 1.6

So this is it:
Android 1.6 update now official for T-Mobile G1 and myTouch 3G

"Donuts for everyone! Well, not everyone -- but as we'd heard, at least some G1 and myTouch 3G owners on T-Mobile USA are now being blessed with an official Android 1.6 build over the air. The carrier says it has "begun delivery," which we take means it's not all happening at once; that's the way the 1.5 rollout was handled, so it really doesn't come as a surprise. Keep checking for that update notification, folks."

When the heck is Rogers going to be receiving this update for them to distribute to the Android users here in Canada. I can't wait to get my Magic updated on this thing and try the new enhanced features. And funny thing is the myTouch just rolled out in the U.S and they get the update first. Oh to be a proud American at this point. LoL

I was on the phone with TMobile earlier today asking why my mytouch only had 192mb ram while the magic has 100mb more. Anyway he told me the G2 would likely come out before the year's end. So, while everything that has come out after the G1 has been called the G2 at some point or another, it looks like the actual g2, which will obviously be based on the g1 (slide out qwerty) is not yet out.

I am using an HTC Magic produced by Vodaphone UK, but I am on the Orange network. All works ok & I have received the minor updates from Google. Yet to receive the 1.6 update.

But what I dont understand is who is sending me these updates ?
It isnt Vodaphone as I am not on their network. It cant be Orange since they dont support my phone.

If its Google, how do they know I have their OS ? Does the phone 'broadcast' that its an Android phone over the network or is it an IP address thing ?

Dont understand...

I asked this Direct to Vodafone on their Forum and the Mod's claim it is straight from Google. So Voda do not know when customers will receive the Update or what the update is for as it comes direct from the Big G :D

Since it comes from Google themselves , I'm sure you'll receive it regardless of what network you are on. It's the handset Google admin not the Sim / Number or the nework in which you use . As long as you've got an internet connection ready on the handset , I'm confident you'll receive your Donut fresh from the Bakery! :p
