I know it says no configuration options or settings. But I'm not seeing anything different after I install.

And the app store shows "...compatible with your Sprint HTC One." Am I supposed to reboot or restart something? Or maybe it really doesn't work with an HTC One?

Could be incompatible, sorry about that.

The Store's claim of compatibility isn't reliable, unfortunately.

I'll see if I can find a better option, if you see one first, please post back. :)

Anyone know of the PROS-CONS of the FAST BOOT option?

[SETTINGS>POWER>FAST BOOT>Start up and shut down quickly]

FWIW,I think the phone starts up & shuts down quickly enough w/o the option enabled.I fail to see any added benefit of the option other than to shave a few seconds off of each, hence the question.

THX! :)

Fastboot causes more harm than good. App cache isn't emptied, and some things can get tangled (Early Mon's word I've taken as my own :D) up in this fastboot environment. The more 3rd party apps running can also cause more issues. This doesn't happen upon every reboot but if you're trying to troubleshoot and using fastboot, it may not make things better and may not clear the issue...

HTC would have fastboot ticked from fresh out of the box on earlier handsets but it's nice to see they have it disabled upon out of the box status on this flagship device...

New to Android and HTC one. Can't see where or how to do this.

My previous phones, when an incoming call is from a number not in a contact list, would display the State, the call originated from, as in:

Is this (popping up the the state) a setting that I've missed? Is there an app to do it?

App incompatibility is sometimes an issue w/new phones, especially if they're sporting tech that hasn't been seen on another handset.

We've seen this w/the AMAZON ANDROID APP STORE application,& the issue has since been resolved.

An e-mail to the application developer would be a step in the right direction to getting this resolved.

my old android phone use to allow me to select multiple photos all at once but simply long hold one pic, then checking off the rest of the pics that i want to use to send via email or whats app. however that doesn't seem to work with the One.

Also i use to be able to select multiple photos to send directly from whatsapp, now i can only do it one at a time.
is there some way around this?

thanks!

Thanks. Just sent an email to the developer. Will report back on what he/she says in reply.
So I emailed the developer. Got back a short reply, with an ambiguous answer:

I said: It doesn't appear to work on my phone. Do you know if this is supposed to be compatible with an U.S. HTC One, Andriod 4.1.2, HTC Sense 5.0.?

Response: "The app will show a overlay when you receive a call. It will show the location of the caller only when you receive a call."

I can interpret that to mean it should as far as we know. So my conclusion is look elsewhere. And be very cautious of all the over the top permissions on these caller ID apps, especially the ones coming from (what look to be) various eastern europe locales.

With the htc one is it possible to bring up the lock screen other than with the lock button? I have tried the phone numerous times inshore and I think this was the only way I could get the screen to show when the phone was not being used.

With such a bad spot(IMO) for the lock button is there any other way to bring up the lock screen? Volume buttons???

Try this,or,any similar apps in the GOOGLE PLAY STORE:

Yeah,it'd be nice if such options were baked-in vs. loading up another app.

I'm guessing there's an app that'll allow the volume rocker to do what you're looking for as well.

Speaking of volume rocker,is there a setting to change the action of the volume rocker when receiving a call?

Seems hitting the volume rocker will answer an in-coming call w/o any way of changing this action.I'd like to be able to lower the volume of the ringtone instead of answering the call.

THX! :)

GOOGLE SEARCH & GOOGLE NOW are basically the same thing, but,I think you're referring to a direct link to VOICE SEARCH.Seems the action you're describing was present on my phone @ one time, but,I can't get the long-press action to open directly to VOICE SEARCH anymore,but......

If you go to GOOGLE SEARCH,scroll down to the bottom of the page & press on the 3-dot icon, which opens up a menu, press SETTINGS > VOICE > & select "HOTWORD DETECTION".

Then, the next time you long press to open GOOGLE SEARCH,just speak the word "GOOGLE" & VOICE SEARCH will be open.

If you're using an aftermarket launcher such as APEX/HOLO/NOVA,you should be able to set-up a long-press profile for the home key to open up to just about any application or shortcut imaginable.

Hmm... I did not know that stuff was in that menu.

That said, have either of you noticed that google now is malfunctioning slightly?
I use the timer in it often and I just long press and "Google set timer for xxxxx"

It acks by saying "setting alarm", the text is the exact command I gave but the timer will be for like 1 hour.... 8 hours or something

Just behaving odd the last few days.

I recently got the new HTC One and I have been using twitter on it since I bought the phone. I'm not sure what I pressed, but suddenly all the people I follow on twitter have synced over to my 'people' list. All the people from twitter have little twitter symbols below their names. I've tried going to settings > accounts and sync > twitter and turning sync off, and it was already turned off. Help please!

Welcome, jakea. Congratulations on your new One. :)

Unwanted syncing can happen with a configuration error by the user either at the site or on the device. I'd check both (you say you've already checked the device.. be sure to hit all syncing apps/widget areas).

I'd even go so far as to see if it repeats after clearing all the data from those apps and rebooting. That'll probably take care of things as long as you are careful about your settings.

The HTC One is pretty new.. I hope we're not talking about a quality control bug in some of them.

Thanks, I had another look at the settings and realized the thing that made it sync the people I follow was that apparently I had authorized HTC sense to use my account. I really don't remember authorizing HTC sense to use my account but anyway, I unauthorized it and it went back to just my actual contacts. My fault for not looking properly the first time lol.

GOOGLE NOW is a bit buggy on my phone of late as well,w/a different quirk:

It keeps saying location services need to be enabled, although they already are.I believe GOOGLE SEARCH/NOW recently had an update & seemingly there's a direct link w/the update & this location issue.

The update to google play services (i think?) caused this issue. HTC and Google have said they are working on a fix and to sit tight
