Hi All,

First off, I love my Moment, much more apps that I know what to do with then the Palm Centro I had. But I have noticed some things that Palm seems to have over the Moment and was wondering if any of you know if the Moment does these things by default or if I need to find apps to do this.

1. Repeating events:

I know that I can set it to daily, weekday (Mon-Fri), weekly (Every specific day of week), monthly (Specific day), Monthly (IE: Second Wed.), or yearly.

On the Palm, I can tell it to repeat like the moment, as well as edit in a weekly event specific days (Mon, Wed, Fri) and tell it to repeat every other week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, etc.

2. Seperate ringtones:

Palm allows for 3 ringtones based on the following for calls: Default, No Contact info saved, no caller id. Also, specific groups can have a ringtone set (IE: Family has ringer 1, friends ringer 2) on top of specific contacts having their own (Mom and dad while still in family uses melody 1 while Aunt Lee uses group's default). So far on the Moment I can find the default and how to specify a ringtone per contact.

3. Seprate sounds for emails/sms/system:

I would like to keep the notification sound for emails and texts, but turn off the one for the charger. Or, Have emails play one sound and text another.

4. Phone stays asleep when connecting/connected to charger:

As much as I like having a visual (and audio) confirmation that it is plugged in, I don't need it, or that it likes to stay on while charging.

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

Edit: Oh I forgot to mention, My phone has 1.5 if that matters any.

I use a program called 'SMS popup' that allows separate sounds for texts, as well as custom vibrate patterns. It also allows popups of messages as the name implies, but I don't use them,

menu > settings > applications > development > stay awake (uncheck)
menu > settings > sound & display > sd card notification for the beep

Use handcent MMS for the text messages. It allows a different tone for the notifications and is way better that the stock app and free in the market (make sure to turn of notifications on the stock app after you download). It is a better MMS experience than the Iphone or Palm Pre, I think it even allows different notification tones to be used for different contacts, but I really haven't messed with that. I get different tones for MMS, each Email Account, voice mail, and calendar items. Most items have their own settings.

Ok, learned a few thing since last time I posted here.

The sounds for each item is hiding in each program. Wish they were in one location, makes for fast adjustments, but I will take what I have.

Glad to finally tame the setting for when I plug in the charger, it still lits up when I plug it in but quickly sleeps again.

I have, however, found a few more problems that I need help with.

1. Brightness setting.

I have already set it to as low as it can go, even with quick settings, and it is way too bright for night use... I sometimes can't sleep (like right now). Is there another app I can download that can give me a one click "night mode". (Palm had it as a key combo)

2. Auto correction/ auto type

Palm had a place you could add common misspelt words or short abbreviations to a list that the phone would automaticly correct/fill in based it.

I use an app called Timeriffic in the market...free. You can set it to turn on at different time...the ringer, notifications, others, and I know there is a brightness setting. Also, try auto brightness which lowers the brightness in dark areas. This maybe able to access a lower brightness than manual.

To add custom words to the dictionary, in the bar above the suggestions, long press the correctly spelled word and it will add it to the custom disctionary. You can also, go into Seetings>keyboard and see what is there and remove words.

No luck with it, tho it is a good app to quiet the phone when I don't want to be bothered at night.

Sorian, I'm not understanding what you are asking. My phone display goes off completely when it is hooked up to the charger. Does yours not do that? I remember with my Pre that the display was always on while on the touchstone charger, and it drove me nuts, since it was way too bright too. Are you wanting your phones display to stay on, but only dimmer?

When I plug it into the charger it turns on for 15 seconds then goes back to sleep.

What I am trying to do now is: when I have one of my fits of insomnia (which keep me up till 2 AM +), I don't hurt my eyes from looking at the screen in a dark room. I already have it set to as low as I can get it with Quick Settings.

I get it, you grab the phone and turn it on and it is too bright. I actually got a call this morning from work at 3:40am and in turn had to call another employee right after, and I couldn't get my eyes to focus on that bright screen for a couple of minutes. I feel your pain, but unfortunately cannot suggest a way to alleviate it.
