What Verizon Plan Are You Getting/Using?

Curious what plans everyone has or is planning to get?

At present I have no contract.

I just went on VerizonWireless.com and picked a random smartphone and set up a mock plan- total monthly bill came out to $117.97 a month!

Does that sound rediculous? The plan includes:

900 minutes +nights and weekends+5 friends+ unlimited texts 79.99
Unlimited Dataplan 29.99
Total Insurance 7.99
=======================
TOTAL: 117.97

How can I get a better deal? Or is that what everyone else is going to do?

I have the ability to join a friends Family Plan, would that be wise?

Who do you work for? Have you checked on employee discounts?

Currently I am on the 900 minute Premium plan, which includes unlimited text, VZNavigation, Unlimited Data (for feature phone), and mobile email. Also insurance. Bill is around $110/month.

Automatically with the unlimited smart phone plan and an Android device, I can cut out the premium plan, which brings me down to $80 for 900 minutes, plus $30 for the data, plus insurance and taxes... I'll probably be looking at $120/month.

However, while I've gotten somewhat close I have not gone over 450 minutes in over a year. I may cut my plan down to 450/month, which would bring the total down to $100 even. That is probably what I am going to do. Can't complain about an extra $120/year in my pocket.

Be aware, if you have it programmed where you have five (I think it is five) people that you can program into the system as your five free anytime people, if you lower to the 450 plan, that removes those ... at least that is what I know from the last time I talked to them about it last year. At the time, that was a deal-breaker for me since I had four numbers on there I called quite freqently that were not Verizon phone lines.

Yeah, that is kinda the same issue I'm having. I have MyFaves right now... kinda need it.

yes, there's a few plans that you have to whine to verizon about to get them to offer it.

It's not for people who need minutes though. If you need more than 100 you pretty much have to go for the 450 minute one.

yeah... well I guess I'm stuck with the 450 then, because I am cutting it close with my minutes as it is. AND I just finished pre-ordering.

I skipped insurance, skipped 900 minutes, just stuck with nationwide 450 talk text 59.99 and 29.99 data plan.

so monthly total 89.99

(I may have to get the 900 - depending on how many minutes I use talking)

Switching from AT&T...

Got the family plan with 3 lines:

700 shared minutes - 1 Year Plan

My line: Droid Incredible: $229.99
Data Pack: $26.99
Asurion Ins: $6.00
500 Messages Ulm M2M: $10.00

Line2: Samsung Convoy: $30.00
250 Texts: $5.00
No Insurance

Line 3: Samsung Convoy: $30.00
No text / insurance

Monthly $121.97 + tax / fees
Out of pocket: $314.98
Saved: $459.98

No idea what my employer gives for equipment discount but our plan is 10% off... that savings part floored me!

you can get unlimited talk through skype mobile for about 6 bucks a month, doesn't use your regular minutes, but supposedly will be able to work through the voice plan.

And there are some solutions to allow free text messaging, and there's also a 5 dollar a month texting plan from verizon for 250 messages allowed per month.

So you could get just about unlimited for a total of 61 dollars a month.

didn't they remove those?

Last time I checked, the only options were, no txt plan, or the unlimited for an extra 20 dollars a month...

I'm currently on the 10 /500 plan myself...

well i have the 300 minute plan - $35
250 text messages - $5
data plan - $30

my monthly bill is 56 a month add 30 bucks on top of that and the additional taxes so ~86 a month is about right. if you want insurance add another 7 bucks so 93 a month about.

Curious what plans everyone has or is planning to get?
