Not using a case? How is the phone holding up?

How is your phone holding up? I always buy a case and end up taking it off. The phone feels so good in the hand without a case.

any scratches to the back of your phone? What about the camera lens? Any scratches there? Overall how is it handling your day to day use and abuse?

Literally looks as new as the day I got it. I've been putting it bare in my pocket everywhere I go as well as the cupholder in my car when I drive anywhere and it has performed admirably well against scratches and scrapes.

I never use a screen protector or case!

The HTC One is holding up fine, looks new. It's always in jean pockets, or the arm rest of my car, or the table at bars.

No visible scratches, haven't dropped it though.

Good to hear. How are you guys mostly putting the phone down? On the back or on the face? My concern is getting the camera lens scratched.

I take it out of the case so people can have a glimpse. If you aren't using a case and something happens to your phone you are going to be pissed off. Any scratches, drops, or scrapes is an injustice to HTC and the HTC One. And if they can't replace your phone right away, using another phone is unacceptable.

I place it down on the back. I'll make sure I don't set it down on gravel or anything, but I'm pretty comfortable with just plopping it on a table or desk or something.

Just as a point of comparison, I have (and love) a Note 2. The bezel is fine and shiney, the front is pristine as the day I bought it, but the back is scratched up quite a bit now and even has what seems to be a permanent imprint about half an inch in length apparently as a result of the way I was pocketing the device.

I recently got a two piece, very light and thin but stiff case.. wish I'd done that right away.

I think the HTC One is already superior in several ways, but in the Samsung plastic regard, quite superior indeed.

Since the original HTC evo I have not used a case on my phone. Personally I think it adds bulk and take away from the design of the device. I keep my phone in my right side pocket all the time with nothing next to it. I'm really anal with keeping my phone clean from dents and scratches, with all that said the ONE fits nicely in the hands but you will have a fear of it slipping out of your hands. It also gets warm when you watch videos and play games, that's just the reality of being metal and no case .Any device will hold up and well maintain depending of how the individual take care of the device.

I picked up my One a couple weeks ago. I had purchased a OttorBox but didn't like the way the speaker openings on the front let dirt in under the protector, against the screen. Took it off and much prefer using my phone without a case. The back is just as perfect as the day I got it. Having said that, I did notice a couple micro-scratches on my screen that require quite a bit of effort to see, assumingly from sliding it in and out of my back pocket of my jeans. I put an iFrogz screen protector on and my One continues to rock!

Okay little update was at the beach yesterday and now I noticed a super tiny nick between the T and C of HTC on the back like you'd really have to be examining the phone to see it haha but other than that still all good. The only thing is my One gets way hot fast at the beach which I guess is understandable since it's freakin hot and sunny at the beach lol :)

Got a scratch on my phone..on the front near the front camera...very small one but u can see the silver aluminium underneath( i got the black version)...and the weird things is i dont know how i got it( i got a nikillin hard case and a scratch guard too)...usually very careful with my phone...always keep it in front pocket and there r no keys in pocket)...
damn it nearly broke my heart seeing that sexy metal body scarred...was wondering if i should have gotten the silver instead
other than that no probs till now(hopefully)

I am tormented with this question. To case, or not to case?
This phone is SO beautiful, I will hate (when the VZ version is released) to put a case on it. Besides, every case I have ever used ends up trapping sand and dust under it, scratching the hell out of the phone's body, so it wont protect the pure beauty of the One.
I do have a small child that is sure to get his hands on it and throw it out of a moving car or something, so...

I've decided to go without a case. After all, we all have insurance right? If I damage the phone bad from a drop or something, I'll just finish it off and go get a new phone. May as well make use, for once, of all this money I have wasted on insurance over the past 6 years

This is what kills me about insurance. What is it now, $10/month plus a $100 or more deduct able? And for a refurb to replace it? Or worse yet, a Samsung or Moto because their stock of my phone is out?
I can buy a used one if I need to for that kind of money, have the choice of what I'm buying, and if I don't need it, great! I just saved a ton of money by NOT getting GEICO.

I hate cases, always end up taking them off... Especially would be the case with this phone (waiting on VZ).. But I'm afraid to put a naked phone in my pocket.... So i use sfbags suede pocket case to protect phones in my pocket... Keeps lint, sand, whatever-pocket-particles, etc... Out of phone... It's thin and does a great job, no scratches on any of my phones... And they're only like 10 bucks. Also have a little pocket if you want for a debit card or license etc...

I've had my HTC One for about 3 weeks now and it's never in a case with one exception, when I go biking, in what case it's then in a Otterbox Defender case. The phone is still pristine, though I did put it under an iFrogz crystal screen protector. The only time my One has taken a tumble is on a bike ride where it came out of the mount and sumersaulted, hitting the ground at about 15-20mph. Picked up the phone and found the case to have a little road rash on the corners but the phone remaining in pristine condition.
