Hi, i am in the uk and had my i9505 for around 2 weeks, just wondering the best way to now root and is there anyway which is the safest / recommended?

also, can rom's still be updated afterwards via ota or kies if i root, i know i would have to root again but would my phone still be supported by kies and look for new fw's after rooting?

thanks

james

I'm using pre-rooted roms, you get them below and you just flash with odin. ME2 is the latest available in the UK

MEA is the latest firmware with new features and fixes, only officially available in Germany and I'm currently downloading it very slowly.

It's fairly straight forward and doesn't require a wipe but please follow the instructions carefully.

Yes, you can still use OTA updates.

i am assuming you used:

Model: GT-I9505 (4.2.2)
PDA: XXUBMEA
PHONE: XXUBMEA
CSC: OXABMEA (MultiCSC - 8 codes)

am i right in assuming that if i update to that i wont have to wipe my phone as mentioned above?

You shouldn't have too, I just went from ME2 to MEA and never wiped, I've not run into any problems.

It's worth noting that if you install a rom not meant for your region OTA updates probably won't work and neither will updates via kies.

If you want OTA updates to work install ME2 and wait for Samsung to release a version of MEA in the UK, it depends how patient you are I guess. :D

my current fw says its build no. JDQ39.I9505XXUAMDM

is that correct and the same as your previous official one?

Yes I believe that was my last official firmware, both MDM and ME2 are out on unlocked devices in the UK, the majority are on MDM though.

Either should be fine, if you want to have MDM stock as a backup you can get it from the thread below, look under GT-i9505 for United Kingdom BTU (April 2013) and you will see a download link for the rom your using.

You flash them in the same way.
