Should I get a screen protector for my Galaxy S4

Although Gorilla Glass is supposed to be scratch proof, it can definitely be scratched. I was talked out of using a screen protector on my Bionic, which had Gorilla Glass and it took about a week carrying it alone in my pant pocket to have a scratch on the glass. It was very small and barely visible, but I knew it was there. I opted to use an Invisible Shield protector after that, but wished I had put one on from the beginning.

Don't kill me for asking this, but is there really a screen protector out there that is tougher than GG 3? Aren't screen protectors just relatively soft plastic?

Personally, I've never used a screen protector and never had any scratches. But, then again, I always use a case that has some sort of screen protection built-in.

You're right, the screen protector will eventually get scratched. However the difference between scratching the protector and scratching the screen is how much it cost to replace each one. :)

I guess my point is that something that scratches a plastic screen cover may not scratch a gorilla glass screen. And, if something is hard enough to scratch GG III, a screen cover might not help much.

Then again, if I was carrying a naked screen in my pocket or something, I'd want whatever protection I could get.

I've had my S4 for about 3 weeks now, and have kept it in a case without a screen protector. I've noticed some slight scratches (one about 3/4" long) on my screen recently. Most likely from sharing my pocket with a keychain. My S2 glass screen went nearly two years without scratches, so it's a disappointment that my S4 scratched so quickly. Looks like I'll be shopping for a screen protector immediately.

I like my phones like I like my women...... Naked!!! Sure I get some small scratches from time to time but when the screen is on you can't see them, I only notice them with the screen off and the light reflecting off it just right.

Totally a personal preference, do what you wish

I am glad the women in my life don't slip out of my hand as easy as the S4!

You can fry an egg on the nonstick surface of this slippery phone. :(

I haven't used screen protector for years. Never had one on my iPhone 4 or my 4s or my Galaxy Nexus or my Galaxy Note 2. Never had a problem. However on day 16 with my gorgeous new s4 I noticed I have a tiny little pock mark and ever so tiny short little scratch right dead center in the middle of the S-View window. Make no mistake its on the phone screen itself and you can actually feel your fingernail dip in when you rub across it ever so slowly.

You can only really see it when you turn the light just right but it still makes me incredibly nauseous just the same. :(

I would absolutely recommend one and Ghost Armor was always my favorite before. Worst case scenario is you use the screen protector for 3 months and decide that you really don't need it and when you peel it off the screen is just as mint as the day you got it. That's a win win and damn good peace of mind IMO, I'm telling you from experience both ways.

I have a Tech 21 Impact screen protector which is a revelation. Firstly, putting it on is (pretty much) foolproof. You hold it by its edges making a U shape, touch the bottom of the U to the screen and let go. Voila! No bubbles. The other two advantages I have yet to test, but it claims to withstand a steel ball being dropped on it (according to the graphic video on its site), and it says it is scratch proof. Finally, it is a fair price.

I would highly recommend a Spigen tempered glass protector. Costs a little more but feels and looks just like the normal screen, can't tell its there at all and goes on extremely easy.

This David... the spigen Glas tr slim protector is really nice and as the name suggests....its made of glass, not plastic....
