32 or 64gb model

Why oh why is samsung creating lots of different models of the S4 - active, camera etc without trying to get the 32gb and 64gb versions out. I dont see the 16gb as being sufficient for most uses but rather than get the 32gb and 64gb models developed, they insist on releasing all of the different models first.

I am getting close to my contract end and without a 32gb or above model, samsung is basically saying - go buy a HTC one - does anyone understand whats happening?

In the UK the 32gb S3 isnt that widely available so I fear the S4 32gb will never arrive

That solution seems a bodged solution at best to me. I read but obviously not tried that when the update arrives you will be able to move apps but the home folders they use for storage will remain on the phones internal memory. This will mean that things such as google music are not useable etc.

The most desparate can always use symlink to move app data to SD card. I do not use such bull.... as Google Music, so it does not affect me, but I do not think it should be considered a deal breakeer as S4 is considerably superior in most other areas.

Not getting when people want a 32GB and others approach with incredulity. Real simple: Apps 2 sd is not as stable and makes card swapping (some do that) problematic. It is also hit and miss what apps support it, beyond some moving a few MB of the app.

If anything as subjective as a person's personal preference can be objective (it really can not be), apps 2 sd is a more incredulous worthy position. Internal storage is more stable and that is fact, supported by the people that created the OS and the carriers that asked it to be removed in the first place.

Why bunch everybody into the same position and impose their own standard on all? Freedom of choice seems to make more sense than no choice.

BTW, it is looking like a 32GB option at least with Verizon may be happening in late July.

I would be happier if I had all of the apps and data I wanted on my phone, and have the 8 - 9gb free than having only 1gb free but consoling myself with the fact that I have an sd card for images and music. Its one think loosing a card which may have photos and music on but if it contains an app such as sat nav or an ftp client that you rely on then looking that card wouldnt be good.

Out of interest what are the "S4 is superior in lots of other ways" to the htc one?

For superiority - read reviews.

For apps on SD versus internal memory. So far I have hd problems where I had to format phone's memory much more often than my SD card. No sd card has failed on me so far and I reformat my phones every few months. For apps, there is always TiB and other solutions.

If you feel the 16 GB, only 9 GB personal storage, isn't going to last the life of the phone, then go with the 32 GB, 24 GB personal storage, or 64 GB. I had to take my 16 GB back, 2 days later, for the 32 GB model because I was running out of space. (Only cost $50 more.)
