According to what I have read, it will only be available in the US at first. There was no mention of exclusivity, so it's quite possible that it will come to the UK/EU later on, but I don't think they are going to just up and change specs for the UK folk. You can expect the same thing as we are getting in the US. I'm just hoping that we're able to select between black/silver.

I've always found that puzzling, but I'm guessing it's to prevent odd situations where a kid orders a device on their parents device without their knowledge?

Wowza. I wasn't part of the Nexus 4 fiasco. I'm actually going back to GSM for the first time in over 7 years.

Good lord I hope that doesn't happen again. The Nexus 7 launch wasn't pretty, but the Nexus 4 launch was an abomination on all scales. Hopefully they don't have there server issues that they had in the past. Supply might be an issue because both companies aren't making a lot of stock, but I'm not expecting a mass exodus of purchases at 600/650 full retail plus tax and shipping.

Are you going AT&T or T-Mobile? I ask because I could have sworn I saw that the One GE didn't support T-Mobile's 1700 HSPA frequency. Then again, you being in NY/LI probably means you have LTE already.

T-Mobile, but yep, we already do have T-Mobile LTE here and it's relatively quick too.

EDIT: I'm actually having a difficult time deciding which GE device I want.

I don't know how much traveling you do, but if you're going to use T-Mobile, I'd look at their frequencies once Google posts them and see which one, if any, support the 1700MHz HSPA. There's nothing worse than traveling and being stuck on EDGE.

Europe mostly uses 900 and 1800 if memory serves me correctly. HTC lists the One GE with the following compatibility:

HSPA/WCDMA: 850/1900/2100 MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
LTE: 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz (US)

So it looks like you'll get EDGE, and possibly HSPA. Too bad there's no confirmed info on the S4 GE frequencies yet.

Thanks for the Euro lesson. I haven't been to Europe since I got a smartphone, so I'm use to all the frequencies commonly used on flip/texting phones.

Quite simply, they bank on the fact that you'll pay through the nose and not care about having a limited phone selection in order to have their stable and huge coverage offered by their network.

Yeah, this is puzzling. Granted, I'm not the one in charge. I'm simply the messenger reporting what I find on blogs.
