Text message contact conversation is empty, but wont delete!

I am using the standard text app, and when I delete the conversation, the contact stays but when opened there is just a blank text message just as if you just started a new one. This is rather annoying and no matter what I do, they won't go away. Please give me some insight. Hopefully a master reset isn't in my near future...!

Try a soft rest (hold down at same time the power button and volume down for 10 seconds) phone will power off and reboot
