My Nightmare Pre-Order

Just thought I would share my pre-order experience. I place my "pre-order" early Monday morning. I noticed that the shipping options were Free 2 day shipping and like $9 for overnight. I went with the 2 day and decided I would call them and explain that all their promos indicate a 4/29/10 ship date if ordered by 4/28/10. After 15mins on the phone getting to the right department they informed me that they could not change the pre-order and would have to cancel it. I was told that after 24hrs I go go back online and order it. Total call time day 1 48mins.
Today (24hrs later) still cant order it. Called again 1st rep told me that they could not cancel pre-orders, but "somehow mine did." He transfered me to sales to place the order because it would no longer be available for online order for me. Called sales, "Sorry you must talk to customer service" talked to customer service, "Sorry you can only pre-order online" Arghhhhhh! Transfered back to online sales the next guy told me to wait 2 more days and I would be able to order it again. Total call time day 2 46min.
So here I am going to wait a couple more days to order this phone, keep your fingers crossed that I can.
BTW he did mention that some will be shipping early, by which the orders were received. So if this is the case I would be getting mine early but not now.

I feel your pain. I missed the free shipping deal and was greeted by multiple CS reps telling me if i cancel the order it will take 3 days to be able to place a new one.

I finally call 611 and they agreed to refund the $8.99 shipping. I've kept rechecking my order status to be certain the first CS reps (from sales and internet order land) didn't cancel my order!

Just call 611 and explain the situation about the free shipping.

moral of the story,
preordering is a waste of time.

BINGO! Winner winner chicken dinner :) LOL...

I just don't see all the fuss and rush about it. Sure, I've been waiting 4 months now to replace my POS BBPearl that works about half the time and will be getting the INC no matter what on the 29th.

In fact, when I walk into my local brick store at 9am on the 29th, I'll have my phone in hand before about 95% of the people that pre-ordered. :p
No need to sit around and keep opening the blinds every 5mins, checking my watch ever 2mins, taking time off from work, etc etc. Shiet, just go into work 15mins later and I'm done!

Why is anyone pre-ordering this phone? There will be plenty in stock. This isn't an Apple product with legions of fanboys waiting outside for one. We're officially 9 days from release and we haven't seen a single commercial. Best bet is that it won't get the kind of ad push that the DROID got, so you shouldn't have a problem. It's like the only people hyped up for this device are RIGHT HERE on this forum.

You can just put in the free overnight code FREEOVERNT. it arent that hard

Exactly. Verizon isn't cheap, they just take advantage of the clueless. But don't blame them because you didn't do your homework. Now, for those paying attention:

You should never have to pay activation or shipping.

If you pay one, the other, or both, you did something wrong. Ask around. There's a promo code for free overnight shipping and depending on your timing (usually weekends online) activation is waved.

Because everyone's situation is different. I go into work at 8am (before the store opens) and get off at 6pm. I don't have time to pick one up on lunch break. So I'll get it in hand while at work where it will be delivered right to me. Plus I don't have to f' with a MIR.

Exactly why I decided to order online. The phone would be in my hands no later then the 29 at 10am when Fedex arrives at work. I hate MIR's as well.

pre-order because it gets delivered to you and you dont have to wait at the store for it, no mail in rebate.

i mean if you love standing in line and dealing with mailing in for your rebate, pre-ordering is dumb!
