Help Dolphin browser is so slow on this phone

I've used dolphin browser for like 3 years now. I just switched to the Galaxy S4 and noticed that dolphin now runs much slower than it did on my old Bionic. It appears that webpages just load much slower. I see the loading bar (at the top) and it just keeps loading & reloading. I'm not sure if it's the phone or if it's the browser.

Also want to mention that the touch accuracy is also off, and I have a much harder time clicking webpage links than I used to on my Bionic. Either the link next to the one I was touching will load, or links won't load whatsoever.

The stock browser is pretty damn good (and I say this as somebody who loathes virtually everything about touchwhiz). I have had Dolphin on all my devices but now I see no need.

Also, with chrome, there really is no need for dolphin anyway.

Ditto I used chrome because I did not install dolphin yet and coming from a HTC evo 4G with dolphin installed I have to say on the S4 I too see no need for dolphin to be installed.

Are you sure it isn't the Dolphin app itself. I used to use Dolphin but it seems like it got slower and slower with every update and then I finally gave up on it a couple of months ago because some pages wouldn't even load. So I uninstalled it and am using Chrome now which is fast but has other issues (no text wrap on zooming in). I think Dolphin is just getting bloated (don't we all as we get older?).

Seems all browsers are faster than my S3 on the S4. Dolphin included, but Dolphin is slower overall than stock, Boat, Xscope and even Firefox now. Dolphin itself seems to be the problem rather than the S4. Dolphin is slower on my tablets as well. Jetpack IMO is a practical placebo.

They keep adding stuff to it to the point IMO of diminished returns.

Charlie,

From your post it sounds like you are new to the S4. When I first got my S4, I was very disappointed with its overall performance. I had issues with WiFi, browser speed, touch accuracy and lag. I was ready to go to the store and get it exchanged, but knew that they would do a factory reset before exchanging the device. So I did a FDR (from recovery) before taking it in. The difference after the FDR was amazing. All of the issues went away. I got the phone from the Verizon Store brand new and I would have thought that the brand new phone (out of the box) shouldn't have issues, but evidently this isn't the case. I realize that a FDR is a PITA, but give it a shot and see if the phone isn't much better.

As some folks here might know, I am kind of picky.... That said, my S4 32gb has not showed any signs of lag with Nova or Wiz and with both firmware versions. It was zippy fast when I first used it and the same with 260 apps installed and new firmware. I do agree the demo units I tested wer a little laggy, but not having any issues with lag. Easily the fastest device I have used- including compared to the speedy iPad 4 and S3.

Of course, like with every device I have- animations are off, extra sensors are off and no live wallpaper. That stuff seems frilly- especially all the eye and hand wave sensor stuff. Turned it all off since just drains battery/resources more.

Wish I did not update though, since root is now currently (or always) not an option.

Its also worth checking out Boat browser. I've tried the stock browser, chrome, and dolphin, but Boat seems to run the fastest for me. Check it out.

I second this.

I was a Dolphin fan until it started running too much in the background and then lagging with every update. I started searching for a quick, and less hogger browser, on my then Sprint S3. I tried:
Dolphin HD/mini- hogger with extensions
Chrome-not too friendly user and notice that Dolphin was faster
Maxthon- actually very impressed me-stick with it for a few months
Puffin Browser- missing some features
Opera/mini- good to use when not on 4g
Firefox-too buggy

Boat, I was hesitant because of its name. Tried it and stuck with it ever since. Fast both in 3g and 4g... i wouldn't install web to pdf extension- drains your batter...

So give Boat or Maxthon a try...

Been using Boat for almost a year.. No problems at all!!!!
