Lack of advertising

I must admit I'm very curious, if not a bit alarmed, at the lack of advertising on Verizon and HTC's part to push this phone. Anyone else share this feeling?

Do you think they will begin a media push closer to the release date or after it? Do you think this phone won't be advertised like the Droid or even advertised at all?

Maybe it has something to do with that 150,000 number that leaked a few weeks ago. Maybe they don't have alot so they don't upset alot of people?? Just a possibility. Look at us! We are upset because some got theirs already!!!

Lets think of it this way...

Pretend you are Verizon and you have a Motorola Droid that is selling like hotcakes. There is more than enough hype to make the Incredible a success but why drive away sales of another fine product? Eventually in time the Droid will die off after the Incredible takes over. They are just making it a smooth transition out the door until the Droid2 comes out.

But look on the flipside... The Incredible will sell itself!

Doesn't the manufacturer also pay for some of the advertising along with the carrier? Maybe Verizon has already committed to ad time for another upcoming device. Or maybe it will be advertised hard after release. Not sure:thinking:

The advertisements are probably held off for a reason we dont know of, but when they do come out, just be prepared. They will probably lay the concrete once the device reaches the market(29th) but we shall see.

i think this is the reason.moto droids are selling great. if they hit the networks hard right now with incredible advertising the droid sales would dry up with people waiting for the incredible. it would make for a very slow week in sales...

Droid was more advertised because it was their first android device. This may be arguably the best phone out there, but phones come out every few months and there's more security in advertising the network's superior coverage.

i thought verizon had an android prior to the droid....no?

Exactly. There's plenty of time to launch a commercial. It's not like anyone has gotten the phone yet.....wait..a..minute.

Yes people dont worry about the advertisments... in due time they will come out. They hyped the Motorola Droid so much because it was there FIRST Android phone. Look at HTC website also all they have on there page about the Incredible is that you can pre order it at Verizon and the Press release of the announcement. I don't expect huge add campains for the phone like they did for the droid but it will not go quietly into the night there will be air time for it. My opinion is they finaly put the finishing touches on the phone and right away made the announcement and said okay ship lets get this bad boy out right away we dont have time sit around and let people start thinking about there next phone. people have already been waiting for something like this from us for almost a year lets give it to them general public will follow and the people following the phone will help sell itself
