Hi All,

I am unable download apps from Android market on my LG P500 mobile.
I have already tried the following to resolve the issue.

- Uninstalled the update for Android Market and reverted to the factory Android Market App.
- Cleared the cache from download manager.
- cleared the cache from android market application

Even after all trials it shows "Unable to download application" all the time.

There is around 160MB in my phones intermal memory and around 1 GB on the micro sd card.

I am using GPRS/EDGE connection to connect to internet.

Please help me resolve this issue.

regards,
Rinjo

welcome to the forums rinjo, I think your LG is a little behind the times. The Android Market was changed to the Play Store back in March of 2012 and if you still have it on your device you're probably still running Froyo instead of Gingerbread for your operating system. xda-developers has a guide to updating your device to Gingerbread. I think doing that may resolve your issues.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will try and upgrade to Gingerbread.
However, is there any other way of sorting out this issue other than upgrading to GB?

hi,
I have now upgraded the firmware on LG P500 to GB 2.3.3.
Although the interfaces are far better and the phone feels faster with GB 2.3.3 than with Froyo 2.2.1, I am still unable to download from Google Market! :(

I still get the same error message "download unsuccessful".

I have run into another problem now. After the update, the LG Appinstaller has been removed and so is the OI File manager.
Now I am unable to browse the applications on the SD card!
Please let me know how to go forward from here...

@dontpanicbobby: Thanks for the links.
I am aware of sideloading (downloading from website and then installing), but most of the apps available in Google Play Store are not available outside.
That is the reason I wanted to download from play store/market.
Moreover, some of the apps that you can get from other websites have virus or request access to contact details, etc.

LG Appinstaller: this searches the phone and sd card for apk files and lists them as already installed or not installed on the phone. Basically another way of tracking installed applications and installers present on the phone.

OI File Manager: Thanks for the link. I can now install the apps already present on the sd card. :)
