Help No way to go to home page

I am new to Samsung and its default browser. In the browser settings I can set my home page. However, I am unable to find any reasonable way to get to the home page except to open a new tab. Am I missing something here? Or did they really not include a button to jump to the home page like Chrome did?

I can't answer your question but I switched to Chrome after about 10 minutes of using the stock browser.

I'm confused, I use Chrome Beta and there is no Home button. I don't believe there is one in stock Chrome either.

I don't mean to be cheeky, but do you mind me asking why would you need a Home button?

The "homepage" on the Chrome browser is the "Most Visited" tab, and I feel far more useful than your typical internet homepage. However, I use Chrome on my Mac as well, so while that does have a homepage, I see the Most Visited screen a lot more often.

I like to use Google News as my homepage. It would be nice to just one tap to access it from wherever I might be at the time. But regardless of the homepage, it is nice to be able to access the page you use most with one tap rather than going to Settings/Bookmarks.

The lack of a home button is not just in the default browser. It is also missing in Chrome.

Another post mentioned using the "most visited tab", but I don't see that either.

I switched to a few different browsers until I found one that did indeed have a "starting" place and/or a place that you frequent, a HOME button. It will also exit the browser turning off all the dam tabs that are always left open.
It is a crazy name for a browser but it works so darn well

If you want the browser to take you to your 'home page' always upon launch, you can create a shortcut to that URL on your home page, and launch that instead of using the browser icon.

I see what you mean. I guess I get too used to Chrome's tab browsing and the Most Visited feature.

I recommend you try Chrome, even tho the stock browser has some nice features, there are benefits in using Chrome.

As the other members mentioned earlier, Most View is what you see when you open your Chrome browser. So if you visit your Google News regularly, it will be featured on top of the list. You are only two taps away to get there. New Tab, featured site.

That's just my personal preference, but I believe this is better feature than just one "home" designated link, as it gives you 6 of most visited sites.

Also, at the bottom of the screen, there are 3 buttons, that lead you directly to Bookmarks and sites open in Chrome on other devices. You can see your laptop, desktop or tablets, last or currently open tabs. I love this feature. I read this forum on my tablet or desktop, go to work, then continue reading the thread without searching for it.

Chrome will sync everything across all your browsers. Which is cool, as you can always find the site you were reading on your mobile, through desktop or laptop history.

3rd most practical for me, is Chrome's bandwidth management. Whenever you request a site, it goes through google's service, which compress and optimize the data, then forwards it to you. It's a nice thing for my limited and precious 1GB data plan a month. It does quite a good job too. This is fresh install, on my brand new S4 LTE, as you can see, it saved me quite a bit of Data plan already

There is no problem running two browsers in parallel. You should definitely give it a try

I like the way a new tab opens to that special page showing the recent or most visited sites. Is there some way to jump back to that page while browsing? Or do you just open a new tab to get there?

I also like that it syncs with my laptop automatically. That way, if I start a search on my laptop but need to switch to the phone later, I can easily resume my original search.

I didn't know about the data compression. That looks like a switch on the image you sent. I don't see that in the settings. Where is that?

I'm afraid not. If you open a page and follow its links, there is a Back and Forward arrow in the menu. But no direct going back to Most Visited. If you think about it, click menu and find Back button, would make two taps. With new Tab, you are right away there.

I use it all the time and I find it very convenient. Best part is, you bookmark a page, and it will be in your Mobile Bookmark folder on desktop and ipad.
It also syncs everything across all the browser. I no longer have to SMS or whatsapp myself links, I just look into history and find the stuff I was reading earlier.

I have been using Chrome Beta, because of many other features it has. So I'm not sure whether it is in standard Chrome. The beta is availalbe on Google play


And it is located in Menu - Settings - Bandwidth Management - there is an option to activate it.
