How many times have you dropped your S4? What was the result?

How many times have you dropped your S4?

What is the strangest way you dropped it?

Do you have a case?

What was the outcome of the drop(s)?

I'll start.

I know I'll sound clumsy, but I've dropped mine 8 times (some little drops included).

My strangest drop was on day 2 that I had my S4. My wife handed me a magazine while I was holding my phone and it slipped out of my hands. I tried to save it on the way down but it hit anyway. It took a funny bounce and went 4 feet in an odd angle (because of my rubbery case) and landed in my dogs water bowl (on a stand) which was full of water.

I have an Otterbox Defender with holster clip. Oddly enough, most of my drops are because I think my phone is snapped into the holster clip when apparently it was not.

As for damage? I have none. When it landed in the water bowl it had a little bit of a gurgly earphone sound. That was cured when I took it apart and submerged my s4 in rice for 24 hours. Getting rice out of the charging port and earphone jack were the only slight problems. I can laugh about it now but I wanted to scream when it landed in the water.

Your turn :)

EDIT: This is NOT a case selling thread...just about incidents you have endured.

I try hard not to drop my phones, but that's why they're called accidents. Dropped just twice in each situation what's really saved me is the slim armor case I use. These are the best cases, they're just incredibly durable, comfortable, and good looking. Best of all is the protection my phone is still perfect and there’s no marks on the case due to its rubber corners and ends.

They retail for $30 which is a good price, yet I get them from Amazon for under $15 an amazing deal.

I've spent a small fortune on all kinds of quality cases over the years. But having found the Spigen SGP Slim Armor, it's all I buy for my various smartphones. For a two piece case the quality and fit are perfect.

I have a headache from reading all that in bright blue font....

But anyway, I've dropped mine a few times but I also have the defender. No damage. The way I see it, if you drop your phone without a case and it breaks you have NO right to complain... It's your own fault. That's the same as all the people who say they won't use a screen protector and then whine about having scratches on the screen.

(not that you are complaining, but some of these people will most likely respond in this thread... I smell it coming.)

Font color fixed. Thanks for the reply.

I've dropped my phone about 5 or 6 times, all with a case. Most have been minor drops, but I have had a few good drops also. Direct drop while exiting from my truck, about 6ft drop. And another drop from my counter top about 4ft, but I kinda threw it down by accident while clearing the counter. Still no damage yet to the phone, regardless of the case (Spigen Slim Armour, Speck SmartFlex Case).

Girlfriend and I received our S4's on Tuesday. While waiting for our cases, she dropped her's 2 days later and SHATTERED the screen. Wasn't really her fault. Some kid at a 4th of July show bumped into her. So she is 1 for 1. I will not mention what case we have because I can see it upsetting some here already because they think it is pushing a selling point. I personally want to hear what cases people are using when they drop there phone so I can make better decisions. But that is just me.

Loads and loads of times....lol, I am using a case(got it free with phone, clear plastic back with plastic edge) it's landed all directions face down, up on its side, corner etc....fortunately I've managed to miss the dogs water, though once only by cms! I can't really think of any really funny drops but with my s2.... our drive at the side of the house has small stones on it and further up bigger stones/rocks, some of the bigger ones have made their way down to the bottom of the slope where the car is parked, I came out the car one day and dropped the s2 as I stood up...it feel around 4.5 ft and landed screen down, smack bang on top of a larger stone with a point on it....fearing the worst(I don't have a screen protector!)I picked it up and......

It was completely fine ;-)

Though a really funny drop I had was at work one day.....

IWas working in a sports cage(two football goals(soccer) two basketball nets above the goals, concrete ground) and there was a mixed group of kids around 10-13 years old, one girl asked me to use her brand new iPhone to take a picture of the group(iPhone 4 not long after it came out!) So I obliged and took the picture using her phone, after taking it I walked towards them to hand it back...held my hand out with the phone screen facing down and my knuckles facing the sky as I got to within two foot of the girl someone had kicked out thrown a ball back into the cage from outside....it hit my hand!

The phone fell from my hand in what seemed like the longest nano second of my life, my heart stopped...it hit the ground with an almighty thud! I eventually knelt down to pick it up and.....

Oh come on, it was an iPhone, what do you think happened to it!? Luckily she started saying, it's ok, it's ok I've got insurance for it, repeatedly! Lol...scary thing was I knew her big brother and he had become a cafe fighter :-\ but nothing more came of it :)

I managed to make it over a month without dropping mine, but while on vacstion last week, it managed to jump out of my hand like five or six different times, mostly landing face-down on tile flooring. I have an Otterbox Commuter and ZAGG screen protector and my phone has thus far remained unharmed.

Never, which is exactly the same number of times I dropped my iPhone 3G, Galaxy S2 and iPhone 5. In 5.5 years of smartphone ownership, I haven't dropped my phone once.

I am careful.

Rather obviously, you are not my wife. :D

As to me, I'm not quite as careful as you, but I've never damaged the phone with a drop. Even my wife has not managed to damage a phone, although she has damaged cases. Neither of us has dropped the S4 yet, that I know of.

Dropped it once from about 3 feet. Totally protected with the Beyond Cell Tri Shield case. Love this case. Thought it was too bulky at first, switched to a Diztrinoc matte case, then switched back to the Tri Shield. Diztrinoc is my first choice for a solid slim case (have had excellent experiences with it on other phones), but I really missed the added control/grip offered by the Tri Shield. I no longer consider it bulky. The slight heft and deep cuts make the phone much more manageable. All ports are covered too. Plus, the cutout for the camera is very deep. No worries about lens damage. Great case.

I've had a handful of drops from my desk or sitting down in a chair. Luckily they were almost all onto carpet so no damage done.

There was one drop that was scary. I set my phone on the counter in the bathroom and it fell off and landed flat on the screen on the tile floor. Luckily nothing broke.

I use a random eBay rubber case and have a Zagg Extreme screen protector.
