Thought I would go ahead and get this thread started since some of us have recieved the phone.... hopefully we can keep this going for a while even after the official release!
I fully charged my incredible when I recieved it. first impression of the hardware were that it feels like a great size, a little thinner (widthwise, not depth) than i was expecting, and the weight is perfect, not too light to feel like a toy and not heavy enough to feel like a brick.
First impressions of the software and set up. Set up was a breeze for email and social networking stuff, almost instanteous. Only gripe: imported my contact from vzw backup and had to manually link facebook contacts to address book one at a time, there may be an easier way, but i didnt find it (blackberry updated 90% of them automatically) After getting the hang of the sense and scenes, ti is unbeleivably customizable....almost never ending possibilities.
First impression signal and battery: my only concerns are here...had my phone charged fully and activated by 2pm, setting up and messing around with the phone killed battery to less than 5% by 4:15...I hope that a normal day is MUCH slower in terms of battery use. Signal stength was never a problem in my office with my BB tour, but with the Incredible, it was bouncing between 3G and 1x the entire time....hope that fixes itself over time....
overall, I love the phone in terms of layout and operating system, may have to get an extended battery, heres to hoping they make one that fits in the stock place so it doesnt take away from the phone's thin size. and need the signal strength to improve...

Just ordered my Incredible today, sold my Droid last night, i'm really looking forward to this phone!! My Motorola Droid slowed down significantly in the 8 months that I owned it, It wasn't zippy at all anymore!! especially after 2.1 was installed with live wallpapers. People complained that my voice was muffled during calls although they were always clear as a bell on my end, jumped from 3g to 1x all the time (South Suburbs of Chicago). I will post again after my phone arrives, hopefully the experience will prove to be a pleasant one.
I was told when I bought my Motorola DROID (which I returned for the Incredible), that the Android's and all the newer smartphones only go to 3G when they NEED to or whe you are WEB-BROWSING, that is why you see the bouncing back and forth.
This is just what I was told - then again, if you told me you got your Incredible already, I would believe that too!
Jon
LOL, Thats actually the 1st time Ive heard that, i will definitely pay close attention when it arrives and by the way (DON'T HAVE IT YET) wish I did though
In one way it "might" make sense... 1x uses less battery and frees up Verizon's Network more, so why lock in on 3g? But on the other hand, does the constant switching result in a "bust" that can ultimately run your battery down faster. Kind of like the theory that if you are going to be going in and out of a room 5 times in 5 minutes, its cheaper to leave the light on (something stupid like that).
Just food for thought!

But unlike the light, the phone is constantly trying to connect to 3g when it doesn't have it, or at least that's my understanding of it.Mythbusters tested whether it was better to turn the light off when you left the room (to maybe make a cup of coffee) and unless you can make that cup of coffee in about 3 seconds, it is better to turn off the light. The results may not have been exactly 3 seconds, but it was an impossible amount of time. The surge is nothing compared to excessive use.
I imagine leaving 3G on when not in use is exactly like leaving the light on when you leave the room.
how strong is the vibrate on the incrediable?...
I had the eris and it was very weak...

yep, Needz, I am.
*EDIT* Oh, and he let me lay it down on a table. Absolutely lays at an angle due to the camera lens.
I am in NOVA too. How did you get your Incredibile so early? Were you one of the lucky ones to have their pre-order shipped?
It was slightly unstable, yes.
