Today is a sad day

My Neo Hybrid case was getting annoying since I replace my battery at least once a day. I'm typically extremely careful with my phones, so I expected it to be perfectly fine. While at work, my phone slipped from my hand and dropped a mere 2-3 inches onto my desk. This minor drop caused the glass on my camera to break. It's one single crack and doesn't effect my pictures, but it's still extremely disappointing.

Does anyone have ideas on repairing it? I do have insurance, but I don't think it's worth spending $150 to get a replacement. I typically have never used cases on my phones and every single one has been in perfect condition after 1 year of use before selling and upgrading.

I can say that glass is definitely not Gorilla glass.

I believe that the screen and digitizer are glued together unlike the iPad where it's possible to replace just the digitizer. It may still be possible to repair it by prising the two apart but it's not for the faint of heart.

Replacing both will be expensive as the screen is the expensive bit. I feel your pain as someone who is also extremely careful. It does seem unsatisfactory that it should break for such a minor incident but it's too late to worry about that now :-(.

If it's any consolation, a case probably wouldn't have helped much unless it was a fully enclosed one.

It is a complete failure of engineering that a handheld device can not survive a 3 inch drop without a major component failure.

Too bad we're suckers for buying them.

Glass is funny.

Years ago I was helping move a piece of furniture which had a tempered glass top. We lifted the top by all four corners and when we had it nearly vertical it broke into hundreds of little pieces. I had two little corner pieces left in my hands.

My screen is flawless, I was talking about the glass on the rear 13MP camera. It's all because the camera protrudes from the back of the phone, my case would have raised it so it couldn't have touched my desk.
