Droid Incredible headphones?

I realize the phone doesn't come with headphones but will we be able to buy headphones with player buttons and a mic?

The N1 came with some headphones with play/pause and forward backward control buttons as well as a mic so you could pick up a call without taking the phone out of your pocket.

Anyone know?

NKT?

I would suggest you read through this thread here:

http://androidforums.com/htc-incredible/65923-wired-headset-mic.html

I started it with a similar question and we sort of worked and sleuthed it through to basically determine, yes. But there's more info in the thread (don't worry, it isn't an incredibly long one...lol).

I'm looking for a headset/mic that will be a good fit for me and I'm very curious about the Airdrives Fit for iPhone (yeah, they work with BB and will work on the DI too). Very unusual design and I think I would end up using it more. Supposedly, you're legally allowed to use them in the car as well. Any thoughts or anyone used them? Here are a couple of links if you want to see them:

AirDrives

There are several other headset/mic sets as well but none of them have a design similar to the Airdrives and none have stellar reviews. On Amazon, the other other set I've found with 4 stars (which is the highest I've been able to find for this sort of headset/mic setup) is made by Klipsch and it's an in ear set w/mic. Just don't know if I want to do in ear especially since the Airdrives would qualify for hands free in the car...

Amazon.com: Klipsch Image S2m Noise-Isolating Headset with Microphone and Single-Button Control: Electronics

So I'd be interested in opinions on all this...

I wonder if play/pause buttons would work the same. I'll wait until someone tries them out and gives a review before buying anything.

To be honest I go through a pair of headphones every 3-6 months since the cables seem to break in my pocket.

I'l be hesitant to pay anymore than 20 bucks for a pair unless they were really something

Bump because I have the same question and am looking for more suggestions :)

For those of you who already have Android smartphones: What happens if you're listening to music and a call comes in? Does the phone speaker ring? Do your earphones ring? Do BOTH ring? Then once you accept the call, does the audio go in through the earphones and if they lack a mic, you can hold the phone and talk into the built in mic?

I have a set of Motorola S9 that I got for the Storm.

Can't say I'd recommend them. If you want reasonably uninterrupted stereo while you're outside, you need to keep the phone in your back pocket.

The phone will ring and the music will mute. As soon as you end the call the music comes back on. I typically use a blue tooth headset for talking, the incoming ring will be on the headset and the music audio is muted.

If you are talking on the phone and prefer speaker phone there is an icon to click and the phone becomes a speakerphone.

Can someone point me to a product? I am looking for an adapter that would take a 1/4" MONO plug and reduce to the correct TRS location for the MIC input. In other words, I want to use the Incredible as a mobile (podcast) recorder. I have a very nice microhone I intend to use, but my standard reducer obviously is not sending mic input to the correct ring in the phone. Thanks!

I've had the Skullcandy FMJ Earbuds ($50, Amazon) for a few days now and they work great. Mic button pauses/plays music, at least for the player native to the phone, the mic works great, and the button also will end a call.

I've had two results for using the in-line button when there is no call present. If you've been listening to music, and have a song paused, it will play the song. If the music app is closed, it launches Voice Dialer.

Overall I am very happy with these earbuds.

you can also try these sennheisers: Amazon.com: Sennheiser MM50 iP Earbud Headset (iPhone Compatible): Electronics

I'm thinking about picking them up, since the connector on my CX300s (the non-headset version) doesn't connect well with the vzw glossy silicon case. I had to resort to using the cheapo earbuds that came with my ipod, which have the narrow straight plug. The MM50 iP linked to above also has the straight connector. not sure if the in line controls will work the same though =/

Whiskyguy, which exact one did you get? I'm checking Amazon and a bunch of reviews for the FMJ mention that they do not have the mic. Can you post a link and also which color did you get. Is it possible that certain colors have the mic and others don't?? Thx!

They also have a lifetime warranty against product defaults, and a 50% off deal if your earbuds break due to something you did (like crash your bike or your girlfriend rips them off your head haha). Again, people will tell you good or bad things about them, but after looking for a week these are what I decided on. I plan on only using them for the phone, and will eventually get higher quality earphones for my Zune.

Edit: Be careful when changing colors on the Amazon page. I do think that only a couple of the earbuds have a mic.

is there a big difference between the titans and FMJ?

I can't vouch for the FMJ but the Titans get better reviews on Amazon. I just got a pair of Titans the other day and they sound really good, at least as good as my old Sony EX51LPs. The only issue is that I hear the cord noise when it bounces against my clothes, etc. but it blocks out sound rather nicely. :)

i can't comment on headphones with a mic, or controls built in but i did just get a pair of Sennheiser CX300II's a few days ago and i must say, they are awesome. they get extremely loud when hooked to the Incredible and sound great. they need no EQ'ing whatsoever, they have plenty of bass, which is kind of a big deal since android has no EQ.
