Root [Verizon] Best WiFi Tether App?

What do you guys use for WiFi tether? I used to use the WiFi Tether app from the play store, but I can't get it to work on my S4. I have an unlimited data plan, so tethering is not included. If anyone can help me get a tether app up and running I'd appreciate it. (and yes, I am rooted on the ME7 firmware) Thanks! :)

Are you on MDK or ME7? If you are rooted stock on MDK I used a tether hack posted in another forum that bypassed the subscription check. If you are interested in flashing a ME7 based ROM onto the MDK base, both Darkslide and Bonestock1.1.3 will tether using the "stock" app.

FoxFi works but you need the paid key if you want unlimited tether.

Have you tried to hit the home key when Wifi tether gives you the subscription message?

I tried the FoxFi part of PdaNet+ yesterday. It works as advertises, basically allowing the phone to act as a Hotspot for another Wi-Fi-enabled device. However, the free version of it shuts off after 50 MB. You have to actively re-enable it. That can become a PITA for a large download. You can buy the premium version of it for I think $8 that allegedly doesn't turn off every 50 MB. I haven't tried the wired tethering yet, but I suspect it also has a similar limitation.

The phone also comes w/ a Hotspot app called "Mobile Hotspot" (at least the VZW ones do). However, I don't know if that would be more likely to arise suspicion from VZW for those who still have the unlimited bandwidth plan.

Edit: Using the VZW-provided Mobile Hotspot app gives an error message saying "Use of this service requires a subscription to Mobile Hotspot or Mobile Broadband Connect. To subscribe..."

Basically, they want $. Since our phones are rooted, I see no reason to have Mobile Hotspot app if we have a workaround, such as the aforementioned PdaNet+, so I'll use Titanium Backup to freeze MH.

Edit #2: I can't find Mobile Hotspot in TB's Backup/Restore. I guess VZW calls it something else. I tried searching for it by "Mobile" and "Hotspot". Does someone know what it's called?

I used PdaNet+ for a few days while my home Internet was out. I didn't pay $8 for it, but I was very close to doing so b/c it was getting pretty damn annoying have to reconnect every ~10 MB. I also used tether mode and it has a similar short timeout. In any case, in a pinch and for free, either tethering or hotspot worked just fine with PdaNet+. But if you plan to use it more extensively, then put down the $8.

I believe it is integrated into the settings and therefore can't be separated out on a stock ROM.

EDIT:
This is some good reading:
What Verizon's FCC tethering settlement means to you (FAQ) | Mobile - CNET News
But what's not clear is this part:

What if I have an old Verizon unlimited data plan? Can I download an app and avoid the $20 tethering fee too?
Unfortunately, the answer to this question is no. Verizon says that customers under the unlimited plan are required by the company's terms of service to pay an additional fee to tether their device.

Specifically, how would VZW know if you're tethering or not if you still have the unlimited BW plan?
