Root [International] DjeMBeY ROM's i9505 - Dummies Guide

So just flashed MGA with the newest MD8 Modem. (MD8 well worth flashing btw as a massive signal boost from MF8 for me.I.e 4G is places I only got 3g in the past).

Note I flashed the cwm version on a complete system refresh. Of course had to install the wifi fix amd flash a modem but thats no big deal . So far this has the smoothest flash yet . Not a single hiccup.

So far a few features have started working again such as air swipe and eye detection /s-beam. Just installing some removed apps to test my samsung connectivity.

Fingers crossed.

Bingo Samsung account working fine and Samsung Link(allshare working). Happy now :)

I might try this ROM when I have more time. At the moment I've just rooted, installed Philz Touch recovery and ROM manager, (do you really need ROM manager ? Can't I just use Philz Touch recovery ?) currently doing a Nandroid (4423MB WTF !) Then I'll download all my usual root apps, and do a Titanium and an EFS. Then the fun can begin !

Just like to say I'm glad I only had my SGSIII for a few months before nicking the missuses up grade for an SGS4. It's nice to have the old faces back :) . With Ironass's tireless support with his idiot proof guides, Hawker already doing his nuke scripts and Syd ready to flash anything and report back before anyone else I think my flash counter will be in the 100s soon enough .

Good work dyno dude and good to see you back on the team.

Djembey is mighty fine, not hugely different from stock but cuts out all the crap, which is great for lazy gits like me who can't be bothered to do it themselves.

As for flashing loads, have tried several kernels and modems with little real benefit tbh. Think this phone is just so good it doesn't need a lot of fiddling with....but still worth trying for yourself ;) I heard you like to fiddle.

3minit framework is defo worth it if you haven't already

Oh, I like to fiddle

3minit framework is definitely on the cards, but with the arrival of family any minute for tea my S4 and me will have to wait.

In relation to how good it is well I'm currently running my S4 in tandem with the S3 which is now stock and unrooted.(my profile says sold, it will be tomorrow I hope, I shan't miss it.) The S4 is definitely slicker, has a better screen and has something else apart from it's newness I can't put my finger on, it is just, well, better.

DjeMBeY,s MH1 pre-rooted firmware is up! :)

Same changelog as MGA. Updated Modem and CSC to MH1. Based on France (Orange), release.

(Oh, what the heck! It's a lovely sunny day here and I'm just laying around. :bebored:)

UPDATE

Everything fine with MH1 modified stock plus 3Minit MH1 framework. No difference from MGA except the modem which I suppose, in the spirit of a dedicated flasher, I should check out at my favourite, testing, waterhole... the Twilight Zone! ;)

It'd be rude not to. Looks like my morning just went from slow to a little better. :smokingsomb:

Finally got around to doing this. While your guide is fine Ironass for most people (the posts here are evidence of that) I share Rudedawg's confusion.

Eventually I bit the bullet. Did a dirty flash of MH1 over stock but rooted, odexed Vodafone ROM, with Odin, flashed Philz CWM with Odin. Then flashed the deodexed framework from the same post on XDA with CWM.

Now here is where I got confused (it isn't hard to confuse me, but it rarely lasts long) I still had all the bloat ware I had before. I presume this is because I didn't do any wipes whatsoever. Checked for root and busy box - OK. Did a Nandroid. Then flashed the 3minit framework and redownloaded the UI from the Play store. Happy days only email (stock app) didn't want to play. Deleted it's data and reset up my email. All working present and correct. :) Just trawled Titanium to freeze a few apps. So far so good.

Did you sign into your google account when you started the phone? Because some of the bloat removed from the rom are actually on my Google play account saved . So that installed the anyway. the sammy apps had gone (mostly).

Yes, but wouldn't have I noticed bloat ware downloading? Any how I'm happy to have or working as I want.

Cool Hand Luke - Failure to Communicate - YouTube

DjeMBeY offers 3 versions of each release...

1. Is the full, stock, odexed, firmware that is rooted = "GT-I9505 Official Stock Packages:"

2. Is the LITE or de-bloated, deodexed, firmware, that is rooted = "GT-I9505 Modified Stock Packages:"

3. Is as above but for those that already have a custom recovery installed and is a flashable .zip file = "GT-I9505 Modified Stock ROM - CWM/TWRP/PhilZ flashable ZIP:"
(NB: You still have to flash the Wi-Fi fix via Odin on this version)

Currently, both the, "GT-I9505 Official Stock Packages:" and the, "GT-I9505 Modified Stock Packages:", are in DjeMBeY's post #1, here.

Whilst the, "GT-I9505 Modified Stock ROM - CWM/TWRP/PhilZ flashable ZIP:", is in his post #2, here

TIP: If you are looking for a de-bloated, (LITE), deodexed version of a firmware... I would select the, "GT-I9505 Modified Stock Packages:", and flash the MH1 Modified stock, deodexed, ROM via Odin, PC version. Then flash the latest Philz recovery .tar file, (5.11.2) via Odin and finally, install the 3Minit framework .zip, 3.4, for MH1 via Recovery and download the 3Minit Settings S4 app from the Play Store.

I'm blue and red color blind :(

How else can I simplify it Syd?

I'm using the red and blue colours that DjeMBeY currently uses in his package titles in his thread.

The problem is that his thread is constantly changing as new versions are added and re-named, which is why I DO NOT supply direct links to these packages in my posts #1 and #2, just headeings.

The only numbers in posts #1-#3 on here are my own, usual, Dummies Guide indexing, #1.1, #1.2, #2.3, #3.2, etc; that apply to this thread for reference.

UPDATE

I have slightly amended post #1 on here to show the exact package titles and colours that DjeMBeY is currently using in his thread to see if that helps avoid any ambiguity.

I only refer to apps like Samsung Link and You tube which to me are integral apps yet Djembey had them down as bloat. So he removed them yet if you use these apps or have downloaded them in the past from Google play , itll download them from there. Yes you should notice but seen as I have millions of apps synced I dont noticed which are which till ive finished. Wiping data is a big hassle for me and only do it if absolutely necessary. For example this latest build is no mean important to me. My phone runs spot on so why update? there isnt anything particularly new about it. also I have no external memory card (damn expensive) So back ups are few.

It sounds as though you may have flashed the stock, odexed, bloated, firmware version and then flashed the deodexed framework. Try my, "TIP:", in post #91 if you want the de-bloated and deodexed version that is suitable for the 3Minit framework.

One man's bloat is another man's, "must have".

So he removed them yet if you use these apps or have downloaded them in the past from Google play , itll download them from there. Yes you should notice but seen as I have millions of apps synced I dont noticed which are which till ive finished.

Hence my instruction in #1.6...

#1.6. Below is just a brief sample of some of the app's removed in the Modified ROM's. These may vary from ROM to ROM. Currently, the MH1 Modified ROM has 61 app's, (416MB), removed. Please check the Removed apps packages for individual ROM's.

Is it better to download the Full, stock, odexed, ROM and freeze/remove all the apps that you don't need or is it better to install the Lite/Super Slim, deodexed, ROM that currently has 61 apps removed and then just add the one or two apps you need?

Agreed! As per my post #83...

DjeMBeY,s MH1 pre-rooted firmware is up! :)

No real need to flash MH1 if you are already on MGA. The XXUBMH1 modem may prove to be better for some but this can be flashed via Odin separately from here.

(Have put a request in for an MGG, 3Minit framework, here)
