Help Night clocks and capacitive buttons at night

Hi folks, finally got my Droid Maxx last Thursday... I ordered it on Labor Day and Verizon said it wouldn't ship until the 5th. No problem I thought; perhaps I'll get it on Saturday and have time to play with it over the weekend. Much to my VERY pleasant surprise, I got the phone on Thursday the 5th. Wife sent me a text with a picture of the box that said, "Look what came for you today!"

Anyway, I was pretty disappointed with the stock night clock. I liked the AOSP clock that was on my 4.1.2 Razr Maxx. So I installed Dock Clock from the Play Store. I've used it before and I really like it. My only complaint is those very bright capacitive buttons that stay on all night. I remember reading that someone else mentioned them staying on too with the Moto clock that comes with the Droid Maxx. Any way to turn them off? It's not a dealbreaker by any means because I love the Maxx. Just curious... thanks!

Unfortunately until root is achieved we are stuck with those lights being on. No way to kill them.

That's what I was afraid of. Man, those things are bright! Oh well, will patiently wait for root. Thanks for the replies!

I just let the phone go to active notifications when charging. I don't need to look at my phone while I'm sleeping.

i actually turn active notifications off over night. but i'm not charging my phone over night so trying to limit battery waste. i use wireless charging at my desk.

My Active Notifications are off at night too. But the point is that the capacitive buttons stay lit at night when using a clock - whether the phone is charging or not. I ran a clock all night without charging to test the battery and the buttons stayed lit. I tell ya, I still got two days out of the battery with the phone screen lit all night. Phone is a beast.

I don't have problems sleeping with them on either; my point is that they are bright and it would be nice if they turned off at night.

We've made Motorola directly aware that we are in pretty much universal agreement that the capacitive buttons need to dim with the screen. They say they're "on it".

This was done in the official Motorola Owners' Forum. This is the place where you join to be in Soak Tests, etc. If you're not a member there yet, be careful. That forum has a culture of "squeaky cleanness". Don't go mentioning "root", either
