desire navigation and mount

Anyone seen any car mount unit yet like the n1? also is there anyway to have the car screen function on the desire?

I ordered this one. Apple iPhone 3G Vent Mount Arkon IPM129-ST: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo . Although its designed for the iPhone it fits the Desire rather well. It clips on to your car's airvent and swivels around to any angle you want.
The top bracket leans a little on the power button but not enough to engage it. Side buttons and usb slot are not affected.

thats what i'm looking at getting, i've got an old spare nokia n97 micro usb cable which works with the desire so plan to use that charger and this cable, with the holder and job done!

I need a cheap lead that is long and not coiled.

Do you see any reason why the one I linked in my prev post wouldn't work.

I'm a little bit noob when it comes to power output etc...

will be perfectly fine, providing the usb cable linked provides charge. there's a few of those belkin usb chargers on ebay, i made an offer for one and got it for a fiver!

Well the car screen mount has arrived and I am very impressed with it.

It fits the phone like a glove. There are no vibrations or shaking either.

I would defo recomend.

Can you remove the phone from the mount easily/quickly?

Yes very easily. There is a kind of spring loaded clip at the top. Because the phone is such a perfect fit it just holds the phone so well. I would never buy a jaw type mount ever again.

kris20vt - do you know or can you tell if the windscreen mount on eBay will hold the desire if its in a gel case?

I don't think it would to be honnest. Due to how well the phone fits. But it would depend on how your case fits. I'll get some pics up today.
