I'm not holding my breath either. Prototypes and vaporware are all I see, nothing remotely close to a production model.

While Sammy's been working diligently on flexible displays for years, they're still a few years away from public release, IMO

I agree. After the Note 3, that's the tech that I'll likely be waiting on for my next upgrade.

My only issue now is, Sprint is offering the Note 3 for $349, instead of the $299 like everyone else. I don't plan on doing the one up program, so even though I plan on getting the Note 3, I might wait a 'bit until after release to upgrade.

No matter what, I have to wait on Best Buy because it'll end up being no money out of pocket. Last year, Best Buy didn't have the Sprint version until 2 weeks after Sprint officially launched the Note 2, so I may end up having to wait anyway (unless Sprint ends up stocking them on the same day).

If the same/similar situation happens, like last year, then I'm hoping a deal comes up that Best Buy will either price match or I'll sell my Best Buy gift cards for cash and just purchase directly from whichever store is offering a deal.

Ok so yes it does sound stupid but its been going around lately and it could be possible. Samsung has had the technology for years now and why not? Not only will it be flexible but also it can with stand grate damage.

as you can see it can withstand the force of a hammer. also it super thing which would allow for a bigger batter or other hardware.

well its rumors. but samsung, HTC, and apple have all made different variants of there devices this year why not the Note 3?

Samsung Plans Bendable Plastic OLED Display for a New Galaxy Note III

Naturally, this would be a VERY limited production run, and a prohibitively expensive phone for the masses (that would be ME). Only a select few wealthy Android enthusiasts and captains of industry will ever get their hands on this thing.

Yeah, but it won't be bendable yet, it'll just be pre-bent into a specific form. I'm waiting on the truly flexible/bendable screens like in their mock videos, which I'm sure will be quite some time until that reaches production.

I'm guessing it'll be GSM International version. Sprint is the last provider I see offering it, so I'll just stay intrigued, while enjoying the glass Note 3.

Nope. Especially if it's going to be "exclusive," much like the 64gb, I predict that'll be offered up in Korea and maybe Europe. I can't realistically see them offering it on any of the providers. And even if it is offered, 1st generation of any "new" technology has big possibilities of needing a lot of fixes. Even looking at the changes that were made from the Note 1 to the Note 2. 1 year made a big difference.

While my head concurs with this timeframe, my heart wants to say next year, just because they've already been working on them for the past 4-5 and LG is right on their heels on releasing one as well.

So just go ahead and get the Note 3 when it comes out?

If the only hesitation is to wait for the flexible screen, yes, without a doubt get the regular Note 3.

Even looking at the S1 vs. the S2 (another good comparison), it was day and night (even for Samsung). Because of the S2 success, Samsung was able to step up their US support (as compared to the S1). The S1, while successful worldwide, didn't quite get the support that was needed (official Samsung support, not talking 3rd party developer support).

The Note 1 was a "novelty" and/or "niche" device, but still gained popularity and the Note 2 took it to another level. This year, everyone's trying to tap into Samsung's market for the bigger phones, but not sure how successful they'll really be in dethroning Samsung. While the Note 3 hasn't received as many "rave" reviews as the Note 2 did, I think it still might outshine the Note 2 in the long run.

Even LG's Optimus G and Nexus. Many people were mocking the fact that LG was the manufacturer, stating their bad experiences of the past. At that time, I had even mentioned the fact that Samsung was once in the same position as LG (e.g. Lack of support from the OEM in the US, very little support form 3rd party accessory makers, and lack of "quality" build). LG's poised to make some noise and of all the reviews I've read/watched, many people have more positive things to say about the G2 than negative (and the reviews are even discounting the re-positioned power/volume buttons, due to the tap on/tap off software that LG integrated...which I must admit is pretty darn cool). Were it not for my falling in love with the Note line, especially due to the s-pen, I'd actually consider the G2.

I go with 2 years of geek squad insurance paid upfront. I haven't had to use it yet, but it covers everything except lost and stolen phones with no deductible. I used to have Sprint insurance before, which was great for years, but then something changed and all of a sudden they started charging deductible for everything and also pawning off claims on asurion instead of trying to resolve in house first.

From all the talk of people getting geek squad insurance, I decided to give it a go. It was so good that, when I was finally going to get the note 2, I had the motorola photon with geek squad protection and the manager at my local best buy was willing to give me a loaner phone, so that i could get my buy back money early and use the loaner until best buy finally got them in stock. Even though I didn't take him up on the offer, it was still awesome. I know others that have had badly broken phones and instead of going through the process of repair, best buy just opened a new phone and activated for them.

I'm sure there is an element of YMMV, but there have been many more positive stories i've heard over negative.

As for why/why not, that's a very subjective POV. I personally like the comfort of knowing any issue will be covered. I don't feel lost/stolen phone is as much of an issue with cerebrus and some other apps that hell in those situations. Geek Squad insurance also comes with their own security app that helps track lost/stolen phones.

It'll be nice when this tech does hit the US. I tend to be over-protective of my devices (case, insurance, and except for the last two, screen protectors), but I still always worry I'm gonna do something stupid and ruin my new toy....I mean phone.

I bet I could be given a device proven to be able to survive getting run over an 18-wheeler, and I'd still find a way to kill it.

I'm assuming the "F" is a code for "Flexible."

That line includes what would be upgraded S4 and Note series phones. Either way, I don't believe those would be readily available worldwide, right away. They'll start in Korea and then start expanding, depending on the response/feedback.
