I remember a poll about this a while back, back when I had just had gotten my phone in january, if I remember correctly it was a pretty diverse answers we had people that were pretty high up in the age number and people that were pretty young. I'm 20 will be 21 in a month.

I'll be 22 in 3 weeks and my Eris does everything I need and more. My first smartphone.... and I'm with you on this. Some people are just impossible to please. If it isn't instant, it "sucks". It's sad, really.

22. First smart phone as well, and I've been loving it so far. It does everything I need and then some...it's even allowed me to start a new project, where I take a picture and post it on my Facebook every day of the year.

Just cause I wouldn't mind being able to always buy the latest and greatest doesn't mean I hate what I got.

Just turned 20 (April11th) and this is my first smart phone as well... I love this phone to pieces but the lag I experience when using it as a phone is starting to become unbearable, to the point it has me looking at the palm pre plus
With 2.1 my Eris is amazing at just about everything except being an actual phone... I don't know what to do with it.

I'm 22. The eris is technically my second smartphone. I used to use a Moto Q, but never had a data plan on it so I didn't really try out most of the smartphone features of that phone.

I like the eris a lot. Android is pretty awesome. I'd still like to see the 2.0 update, but I'm trying to remain patient.

I'm 54 yrs young. Eris is my second smart phone. Got the BB Storm2 8 mths ago then dropped it and shattered the screen. Had the Eris since April 1st and really like it BUT I am considering taking it back for the Incredible as I was told I have 30 days to return it. I like the Eris but you only live once and who ever dies with the most toys WINS!

I'm 45 and LOVIN' my Eris. First smartphone I've owned. Had the LG Dare before the Eris which was a good phone but web browsing was tedious. Web browsing is a dream on the Eris compared to the Dare. And yes, the occasional typing delay can be annoying sometimes (when pecking with swype when I have to). But I text daily, and it's more than adequate for my needs. My main complaint with typing is auto correct. Look at some of my tweets from yesterday and you'll see what I mean. But that's more my lack of attention to detail than the Eris' fault.

I just got to New York (1st time here) for vacation yesterday and the Eris has been EXTREMELY helpful. Took a shuttle bus from LGA and followed our location with Google Maps and GPS. I setup a My Map on Google Maps before I left and we were able to take a walking tour from our hotel thru Central Park (seeing ALL the landmarks we wanted to see in the park) and back thru midtown. My Eris NEVER steered us wrong. When we decided to eat, I used Places to check out reviews and call a nearby restaurant to ask about reservations. We covered SO MUCH GROUND in only about 4 hours because I was never lost with my Eris in hand.

Yes, I'm on a high about my Eris because I was SO IMPRESSED with what I could do with it yesterday. But it's 7:30am, she's charged up and I'm ready to use the Subway map I downloaded to get us around today! The Eris is a great phone and the Android OS rocks!

32 and this is my first smartphone. Got it in Nov. and am still amazed by it. Rooted last month and I now make some Droid owners I know wish they got the Eris instead! Lol

62, and loving my Eris 1.5. This is my first smartphone. I don't really care for nor do I understand why all the bashers here feel the need to ruin the experience for those of us that are happy with our decision. But, the more they bash, the more I like and get protective of my Eris. Maybe it's because I feel like I have a lot in common with it...

At 62, I know I'm on an EOL list somewhere, but I still keep chugging along....my "processor" is old and almost outdated, but still does what the rest of my hardware needs it to do....I have plenty of RAM (random access memories) and power to get me through the day, so I can re-charge overnight....and although my case may be scratched and battered, an may have seen better days, it still keeps everything else protected and has "mojo" so to speak.

Yup...I know what I got, and I'm OK with it. Would I like a "mikeyv2.1"...sure, but I'd just have to learn how to work around new shortcomings anyway, so I'll just hang on to what's been good to me so far.

I almost got it the way I want it anyway......

I am 40 and this is my first smartphone. I'm running 2.1 v2. Thus far I have been amazed by the eris...absolutely love this phone.

My wife is 42 and she really enjoys the phone as well. Of course I keep her phone running smoothly & add cool apps to her phone when she's not looking. She is also running 2.1 and utilizing many of the cool apps (swype, vlingo, google nav, handcent) that make the eris such a great phone imo.

BTW, I got two eris phones for $0.00 with our NE2 and a buy one get one free offer at the time.

I'm also 54 years old and the ERIS is my first smart phone. When I was a young lad a device such as the ERIS was nearly unimaginable.

I had a pair of walkie-talkies that were 8x bigger than the ERIS and the range was only about 1/4 mile. Each one had a 6 foot antenna that needed to be extended before it could be used at all and the thing hissed like crazy the whole time it was on. Nobody on earth had a cell phone and only the super-rich had car phones. I actually saw a car phone once.

If I start to become dissatisfied with the ERIS I just recall my youth and how much technology has improved life. I get over it pretty quickly.

Quite frankly I'm happy with the ERIS. If 2.1 never came out life would go on for me. I'm not going to ditch the ERIS unless there was some sort of screaming deal on something newer and better. I can live with older technology for a while.

I really only use the ERIS for calls, email, maps, web and news. I expect that I will find other uses for it as time goes on but I value dependability over gadgetry so I don't have mine loaded with a bunch of applications.

There was a period of time where I was absolutely frustrated with the phone's lag and then the 2.1 BS. But now, the latter seems irrelevant, and promising...if you like bugs galore.

I was expecting too much out of the phone. Usually I get the latest and greatest to stay ahead of the pack and be well-off in the long-term until I have to buy again. The Eris was a fail for me for only that reason. It wasn't the best, but it was my fault for pinching pennies.

I'm fine with the phone now. Fixed all my issues with minor settings tweaks (some that aren't listed in the thread designed for them) and ATK. Believe it or not, leaving 3G on all the time (WiFi off all the time) has helped me, for some reason.

I'm satisfied with it. Its not top of the line, but it does everything I need/want it to. When you try to find faults in things, rather than look at the benefits, you tend to be a lot more unsatisfied. For me, the benefits outweigh the faults. The pure functionality and quality outweighs the occasional lag and poor battery life. But I was aware that this phone was going to be slower, since its a bit dated, and the battery life was partially because its a CDMA phone, rather than the more battery friendly GSM, and that it had a smaller battery than my Nokia E63 (but that phone also has one of the best smartphone battery lifes of any phone produced). Also, the fact it will have an always on internet connection. But the battery thing can be easily fixed by buying a bigger aftermarket battery.

I had never had a data plan before, and I think its the coolest thing since buttered toast. I take real advantage of it, making the $30 charge worth it. And the Eris really takes full advantage of it as well. And since there is really good coverage here in town, the connection is pretty speedy with a 2Mb download speed sometimes. I think I'm almost addicted to it.

Besides that, if I could live with a laggy Razr for a year and half, I think I can live with a slightly laggy Eris that does literally 400x more things and actually is a competent phone.

I figured I was the oldest one here, but ... not quite.

That said, I've been hooked on computers and technology for over 30 years, though this is my first smartphone. I'm exceptionally pleased with it, especially now that I'm running 2.1.

(And actually, I would have guessed an opposite thesis: in general, older people can sometimes be less technologically savvy than the younger generation, and then less understanding. And that sometimes makes them crabbier ...)

I'm 26, and the Eris is my first smart phone. I didn't actually want one, but when my husband switched to Verizon and wanted the Droid, it was very convenient that I thought the Eris was cute. Buy a MotoDroid, get an Eris free .
