What is TWRP2?

TWRP2 is an open-source custom recovery, similar to CWM but with many more features. You can read more about it here.

Is it better then CWM?

You will need to decide for yourself, but it has many more features such as selective backup, selective recovery, a ton more options, themes, settings and a lot more.

What works in this version?

Everything should be working. I've spent a lot of time getting everything working on this phone and tested it extensively with multiple roms, please report any bugs you may find.

Do all roms work?

They need to be compatible with TWRP2, all this basically means is they need to have the jellybean update binary and a different line to install the kernel. Below I converted most of popular roms for this phone to be installable with TWRP2. Existing already installed roms, compatible or not can be restored and backed up as normal in twrp.

If you want any other rom for the phone to be compatible, or your own rom just send me a PM with the roms download link and I will upload it asap, or I will show you how. At the moment aroma roms (forgotten kingdom) will not install but you can backup and restore them etc. The creator of aroma says a fix is coming soon. Jellybean roms such as codefire by team osiris should already be compatible by default.

I will be adding a "how to make a rom compatible with TWRP2" in a little bit

How do I install this?

Just flash the zip in CWM! - You can also flash back to CWM from within TWRP from the download link below.

Converted roms - Jellybean based roms should already be installable - All previously installed roms can be backed up and restored. Let me know if you want a rom added - You only need these downloads to install the roms, not to use backup and restore using TWRP2.

xFuZiiOnZz-4.3.2

SenselessKingdom-1.2.4

Bluekingdom-1.1

Kernels (If you want to flash as an update)

FastKernelV5

Should be perfectly safe if used correctly, but still flash at your own risk

(If you see an error in the activity log that says cannot mount ____ simply ignore it. I accidentally have a flag for dual SD cards enabled - this won't cause any issues, its just the non existent sd card cannot be mounted. I will turn it off next build)

Was wondering if you was going to update it from 2.5 to 2.6 also I have been having alot of issues restoring backups keeps saying it failed on data, wimax, and recovery any advice on how to fix

Try turning off md5 verification and see what happens. Also you shouldn't really be messing with wimax restoration unless you really know why you are doing it. I will update to 2.6 soon.

i love twrp first used it on my zte v55 credit to joestone for porting it to it i hope with your expert help i can get fully working version here i tried with md5 off still fails and i wasn't purposely at first trying to restore wimax when i got the first few fails on full restore i decided to try to restore one by one boot, system, and cache restore fine but it fails on data,android-secure,and wimax also during a full restore it fails when it gets to recovery all other functions in twrp seem to work flawlessly great work and since i haven't heard or read any other complaints maybe its just my install/phone cuz lately my phone been acting funny will stay on fine in recovery or hboot but has been randomly turning off after a little while of normal use unless plugged in to charge or pc usb i checked battery its good maybe its something in one of the roms i flashed had that happen once on my zte flashed CM then went back to stock and had some issues come to find out it was some setting that stuck from CM install had to reflash turn it off then flash back to stock maybe same thing here not sure i done flashed so many trying Team Osiris pacman rom now to see what jellybean all about but as far as ICS your forgotten kingdom and 2fast4u88 xfuzzion are tops on my list really couldn't find anything wrong both run smooth and function great in your opinion what would be the most stable ICS and jellybean roms out right now and top kernel to run

Hey I was hoping maybe one of you could help me. I have the Galaxy S4 GE and I successfully rooted it. I installed TWRP 2.5.5.0 I am trying to backup my ROM. I do not have a microSD card and I am trying to backup the ROM to Internal Storage. I have that option selected. The thing is it says I have 0 space free when I actually have 4GBs of free space. Oh well, I slide to back up it fails right away for some reason. Anyone have an idea of what is going on?

Just checking in, been a few months since your last comment about updating to 2.6, I know 2.6.3.0 is out and working mighty fine on my other devices, just wanted to check in and see if the update was still in the works for my old Kingdom

Thanks!

Problem is I didn't feel enough people used TWRP here (even though its in every way superior to CWM, imo) combined with a very small user base for this phone and not enough major changes in the new TWRP to bother spending hours trying to rebuild it from source. I guess I feel the interest isn't high enough for the new version vs time spent. If I see more people request it I would probably spend the time to build it.
