Okay i will do that and ill try to explain further.

My past experience with the HTC one i was able to keep a really clean display (screen shot 1) it just how i like my phone. Pulling apps from the app drawer "removed" from the drawer and placed them on my Taskbar or home bar or whatever you would like to call it (screen shot 1) the 4 main apps were Phone, Messages, Pandora, and Chrome.

However as you can see (screen shot 2) the apps now show up in the app drawer and in the taskbar.

Hiding the apps hides the app from my task bar and app drawer (screen shot 3) my goal is to get back to what i once had where I could just have them in 1 place and not have this doubled effect.

Any help to this would be amazing thank you.

I understand what you are trying to do but HTC has put things back to the way the Android Operating system works. There is no work around or fix as this change is actually a fix to behavior that the majority of users did not like. I am not criticizing you at all here but I am not sure what the big deal is if the four icons you have on your Launcher also exist in the App Drawer. I can understand that you like things how you like them though :) Unfortunately I think you are just going to have to get used to things as they are now.

Wow really? I guess i am in the minority there then so everyone just has double apps? doesnt that seem a bit silly to anyone else?

Are there any downloadable apps that can do what I now have grown so use to?

I don't know if there are any apps to do what you are asking for. Honestly, it is not a very often requested feature. The app drawer is the repository for all of your apps. Putting things on the taskbar or desktop is just making shortcuts, the way things generally have worked on most OSes.

I don't know if you can add shortcuts to an app after you have hidden the app, using something like Nova Launcher or something. I haven't put Nova Launcher back on since I got my One, and I can't recall if that was something it could do.

I was actually happy to see this behavior changed back this way. I found it terribly annoying to have apps pulled OUT of my app drawer. I want shortcuts on my homescreens for quick access to them, but I WANT to be able to see all of my apps when I go to the app drawer.

Wish I could be more helpful to you, but I really don't know a way to do what you want, other than to revert back to 4.1, or find a custom ROM maybe.

i am with you on this.. the old way.. you had to hit home.. to get to the apps you put on your home screen, or whatever.. if you were in the app drawer.. some games and such..

this is normal for me.. the HTC One, removing hte app from the app drawer, was wierd to me..

Downloaded 4.3 yesterday, now I have the pesky NFC logo in my status bar. I'm lovin' the battery % indicator, but I wish I could get rid of the battery icon. It's odd that Sprint decided to skip 4.2 and go straight from 4.1 to 4.3.

to get rid of the NFC logo.. go turn off NFC.. i dont use it that much.. so its no big deal to me..

I just noticed something, but I'm not sure if it is a change due to the 4.3 update, or if I just never noticed it before. Again, I am on Sprint. Prior to the update, I had several Sprint apps, such as the Sprint ID icons, Sprint Musiv and videos, and App explorer, or something similar. They are the bundled apps. Prior to this update, I don't believe I had the option to uninstall them, just to uninstall the updates. Now it happily lets me uninstall them. Unfortunately, I still can't uninstall Twitter or Polaris Office, but at least I can get rid of the Sprint apps. Anyone still have their One on the prior build who can check whether the Sprint Apps were able to be uninstalled? I might have just not tried it since I was so accustomed to them not being able to be removed without rooting or something.

Sprint user in AZ - did the update this morning

When I plug in the USB cable to connect my phone and lap top I now get "MTP mode enabled"? What is this... looking it up makes it sound like a slow or old MicroSoft thing...
I use the Klink ap to get internet through my phone on my lap top and after the update now a screen comes up on the phone to recognize my computer (along with some sort of address)?
Guessing this has something to do with them taking away the developer options??? Why

Anyone have details on improvements to the camera on the One? Honestly I love the phone but the camera has been a HUGE disappointment :(

Thanks - Tim

Just upgraded my phone to 4.3 . When I get into car mode there is a constant flashing of the green led. Is there a wat to turn this off? With this constantly flashing never know when I get a new message.
searched everywhere couldn't find an answer.

Interesting. I never use Car mode, but I just tried it on mine, and sure enough, blinking green light. No idea what the heck it would be flashing for. It only flashes if my phone is in car mode, and NOT plugged in. If I plug it in, I get the standard red or green steady light. As soon as I unplug it though, it starts flashing. Good catch.

i use swiftkey exclusively and do not not see this.
i use the black keyboard and larger buttons with no arrow keys.
maybe hit up the swiftkey forums. this may not be a result of 4.3

Took the plunge and installed the update. One thing I noticed and it may be something or nothing is when typing a text the keys as you type now have a yellow flash when pressed. I am using Swiftkey for a keyboard and did not notice this before. Is this new or did I just never notice this? Thanks

Developer options are there, just hidden. You need to go into settings, about, software info, more, then tap "build number" repeatedly. After about 10 taps it will tell you you are now a developer and you will have that menu in your settings.

Don't blame HTC for this piece of lunacy, because it's standard in Jelly Bean!

Also having this issue...

My Stock Messaging App loses my Contacts' pictures every time a new text comes in. The pictures are all coming over from Facebook but changing them to Google does not fix the behavior. Eventually they all return but sometimes I have to force it by opening the contact, clicking on edit, then clicking on the person's photo and re-selecting the source that I am pulling the picture from. Very annoying.

It really is unfortunate how many issues persist despite how long it took this update to roll out. The Lockscreen widget problems, signal issues (I have noticed I am dropping calls), battery drain issues that are causing the phone to get extremely warm and drop battery levels dramatically, messaging issues, data issues, even the signal levels listed in settings>about>network are borked....

Not to mention that the camera is still messed up..And the battery meter (digital is nice) but then take away the analog meter, don't have both on there! I am about to complete a factory reset to see if this at least resolves a few issues.

My biggest "look forward to 4.3" feature was the lockscreen widget feature, but it is so broken it is a joke. Total disappointment that they did not provide a vanilla lockscreen that we could customize. Instead you are stuck with the HTC time/temp widget no matter what and are extremely limited in what you can put on the lock screen. Those few things that do work are bugged.

Terrible implementation. I am very unhappy with HTC right now. I cannot wait until Viper puts out a 4.3 ROM for Sprint....

I wish I would have stuck with the golden rule " IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT "

I am totally disappointed and seriously regret that I gambled and updated my HTC One to 4.3

My phone signal is worse than it was before the update, my 4g signal only displays 1 bar in areas where it use to displayed FULL BARS, my 3g signal bounces all over the place now, it goes from full to zero bars constantly, and like i said my 4g signal displays only 1 bar, ARRRRRRRRRRRGH!!!

And finally, my battery life is horrible, it drains fast as hell now, I had good battery before I updated to 4.3

These are the most to important factors for me in a phone ( battery life & phone RF ) that I need and this update has ruined it.

This is the reason I hate updating phones, for every problem they fix they create another.

My next phone I be damn if I ever update it if I dont have any problems with it to begin with.

Now I dont even want my HTC One anymore, its not the same to me, I loved this phone, I think I just my bite the bullet and buy another totally new brand new HTC One and never update it if is working like I want it too.

This is truly a learning lesson for me, ill never update another phone if I dont have too.

Beware to all before installing 4.3, you have been warned.

How about a total reset and add apps back? I've heard some say this is resolving done of the problems you're mentioning.

Go into settings >power and make sure fastboot is disabled. Turn off the phone (wait 15 seconds after the screen is black and then hold down the volume down button and press the power button. Do not let go of either button) and a menu will pop up after about 10 seconds. Scroll down to factory reset using the volume button and press the power button for enter.

I hope this helps!

The good news is, with this update new Sprint ROMS will start rolling out and that is what I've been waiting for.

understood some are frustrated with this update and/or htc in general, however lets not turn this into a soapbox thread. this thread is for discussion about the update and any issues with it or review of the update.

if one wants to talk about htc , there is an htc forum here:

HTC - Android Forums

thank you all. i love the passion in this thread though... you guys are rockstars.... :D

I recommend sending a trouble ticket to HTC.

HTC do not monitor this thread and if we all want things done, is best to speak loudly to HTC.

Well I did a hard reset this afternoon and I still have the issue of my contact photos not always showing up in the text messages. Does anyone know if a fix is being worked on for some of these issues?

It's a known issue and has been for a few weeks now.

No idea if anyone is looking at it, I'm sure HTC know about it and are working on a fix though.
