Root [International] How to Root The Galaxy Note 3

Upvote 0
overdrive- Who it's your carrier? Also, did it trip your Knox?

Mine is a sprint phone. And yes it tripped the knox but as mentioned several times in the thread, if you can't fix the phone because its totally dead they probably can't read the counter anyway.

Root is important enough to me that I really don't mind the voiding of the warranty. I'm going to root it sooner or later anyway, it just usually ends up being sooner for me for some reason.

Still haven't rooted, had my Note 3 (SM-N9005) four days now, this for me is some sort of record.

I want to, just hadn't had the time. I want to if only at the moment to change the ugly battery meter in the notification bar, and change the SMS tone in the System>media >audio folder. Other than that for my needs I can't see the point yet. Bring on deodexed ROMs, UI frameworks and other mods. I quite like the idea of adding apps to the S-pen window.

No time is BS... In the time it took you to type that out you could have done it. Do you need to borrow some big boy pants or something? lol

ROFL.

I believe you have what is known as "a singular wit" my friend. ;):)

Seriously though, I'm on call and yes I could have easily done it tonight. I am holding out for a couple of weeks. It would be ruddy annoying if the devs found a way of bypassing Knox (highly unlikely, but hey, you never know) or even better but even more unlikely Samsung were to release two versions of the same update, one that still tripped Knox but had an open bootloader that let you do what you like, the proviso being your warranty is gone. The other fully locked tight. Stranger things have happened.

Yeah I really wanted to wait much for those same reasons but I gave in pretty quickly. What's funny is I really didn't need to do it yet. The main thing I wanted to do was be able to use system tuner pro and root explorer in their full capacity. I'm a little gun shy to really make any changes yet because without a good option for a working recovery I don't have any backups yet. Until I see those magic words "backup completed successfully" I'm not doing anything.

I've rooted every android phone I've ever had in the first weekend and never had any issues with them. It's a gamble but one I'm willing to take until my first big screwup. Then I may be a little more cautious.

The N3 really is such a great phone you really don't need root to fix anything. A lot of my phones in the past it was something you really had to do. It's strictly just for fun on this one. That's a good thing.

I don't see why anyone needs a reason at all to do it. We bought the phone and if we want to root it we do. Off the bat I only had a few minor uses for it but I wanted to do it as soon as possible anyway. Coming from htc they have a bad habit of changing the bootloaders regularly to kill the exploits. I learned the hard way to do it and do it soon.

If someone asks why you needed it just tell them there's a difference between want and need and that you wanted to do it. End of discussion.

No disrespect in what i wrote but looking back at that I might have wrote it on the wrong forum. I dont see why I said it unless you caught me at a really bad time, which in that case my bad.

Agree, in fact my smartphone insurance is a lot quicker in replacing the thing anyway. Took them 36hrs to deliver a shiny new one and by insurance even covers accidental damage or loss and they don't care about Knox (btw. UK users, NatWest Silver accounts include, amongst other free things like Love film, a no questions asked smartphone insurance with
