Root [AT&T] Safestrap recovery and roms that wrk with mf3 ota

I hope its cool to post this but I know many out there on att will b happy to get to flash a rom or two on their gs4 with that pesky mf3 ota... I can confirm that the safestrap method wrks as I am using it now and have tried a few roms on it with success...just make sure u follow all directons to the T and thank those that created the tools on xda over there not me...im just paying it foward to yall because its the right thing to do cause we all help each other out ))) so happy flashing and thx for all the help

If a mod or guide wants to put this in the all things root thread so to keep the threads as clean as possible or put a pin on this thread (lock it in) so it stays up top so not to get lost in the order of things and make easier to find for all b my guest and thx

Itried this and it actually worked I have yet to flash a rom but the app it self works perfectly thank you for sharing :thumbup:

No problem man give darthstalker rom a run its the one im currently running on my phone and its pretty awesome but make sure u flash the mf3 kernel module after u flash any rom so ur wifi, bluetooth,and gps work...Im pretty sure he has that zip on the same thread as the safestrap

Almost any of those roms on that page that the link sends u to r ok to run on our phones as long as u flash the mf3 kernal module zip. after u flash ur chosen rom and from what ive read from over there as long as its not a rom with android v.4.3 ie. CM 10.2, GPE 4.3 and so on...its all just trial and error which ones wrk with our phones. Make sure u read all the information given to u on any rom, dont skip something cause u may not think it applies cause thats usually where problems arise. But as for I...the only roms ive tried have booted up and run for me; gravitron, deadly venom, clean rom gpe 4.2.2, & darthstalker... I stopped at the last one because im really diggin the phone with that rom. I hope this helps and again sorry 4 takin so long to get back to u I just get busy sometimes dealing with the wife and kids...u know, they always gotta b entertained...lolol )) good luck in ur ventures and happy flashing

Hey schem I think I derped with my phone I tried flashing dartstalker ROM and followed all the instructions but when I tried turning it on it stayed stuck on the splash screen and then if went to D/L mode on the top right it says " could not do normal boot" how can I fix this I have looked but have not been able to find a solution

Did u flash the rom in the safestrap recovery which is the TWRP recovery and not the stock recovery which has what looks like a android lieing on its back with its stomach/chest flap opened...if u installed the safestrap apk on ur phone and installed the recovery that it gives u through the app u shouldve been able to press the reboot recovery option in the app and it will have taken u to the twrp recovery where u can either select 1 of the 4 slots to put a rom on or go back to the stock slot in case the rom u want to flash doesnt work as long as u didnt flash over the stock slot...sorry for the delayed response had to work and im in the process of moving and just got a min to relax...but I will try to stay on here more to c if I can help u out

Thanks for the help sir but I tried it and it didn't work it says "success" but just stays on the splash screen and nothing more

Try booting into download mode (Hold vol down, home button, and power button. As soon as u feel the phone vibrate let go of the power button) and try again if u didnt already

Hey sorry for the long reply but I ended up having to go to best buys galaxy station and have them restore the software on the phone

Im sorry that the problem was that bad that u had to take it to them but glad u got it resolved
