Anyone else think the camera is pants compared to the n2? My N2 took much sharper images. Even with camera shake reduction switched on i cannot get a decent picture.

LOL..you read my mind. I was waiting for someone else to say it since I wasn't brave enough to say it myself. This is by far, the worst camera I have had out of my last four phones. GS2, EVO LTE, and the Note 2. Even the Note 1 camera blew this away. I expected so much out of this camera as the GS4 seemed to take really nice pics. These pics just aren't very sharp and always out of focus. I figured either my settings are messed up or I got a lemon. I even just visited the pictures post before I came upon this post and was thinking to myself, don't anyone else notice that these pics all suck. Out of two pages of pics, I cant find a single one that I would consider great, nothing close to what I got from the Note 2. I also find the camera settings overly complicated. I just hope we both are wrong and this camera really is much better than we think. I just took some pics of my wife going out and I could not believe how bad they turned out. Out of 15 snaps, I don't have one that I can keep. With a 13mp sensor and image stabilization, you would think that this camera had no where else to go but up...SMDH......

Gearu,
As for what you are saying about the zoom, I don't think the camera has any real optical zoom and think using the screen to zoom in and out being digital zoom you are far better off moving closer to the object if possible rather then use Digital Zoom. Of course if you use digital zoom the image will degrade.

What I meant is pinch zooming on the screen after the photo has been taken.

I might try to return mine. I took 6 pics on n3 and same on n2 then compared them on my ES8000 TV. n3 were awful lacking sharpness and depth.
If others are saying theirs are ok there must be an issue with an early batch?

I just tested my Razr Maxx against the N3 in the same area. The Maxx looked worse most of the time but I am absolutely appalled at the artifacts and horrible images I got a couple times on the N3 in low light. I mean the shots were horrific bad!! I need to do alot more testing but right now, I am NOT at all pleased with this camera!! I have the Verizon variant. I will send this thing back in a quick minute with shots like that! It was that bad....

I just have to show one of these pics, they're that bad. I am on the verge of just taking this right back to Verizon and say stuff it, this is absurd!!!! These are not exceptionally low light areas, either!! But these are horrific. The floor bottom left is really, really bad. And it looks alot brighter in the area than it appears in the pic as well. My skin tone looks bizarre and mottled. It just looks terrible!!!

Settings you used? Is this the front or rear camera? And it's really hard to tell exactly how low of light that really is. The place I work in looks like it is pretty well lit but if I were to take a photo here, I'd have to ramp up a few settings because it isn't really. My copy of the N3 did pretty well considering but I also don't think it is as dark as where you took that photo.

One thing to note is that ANY digital camera shooting underexposed like that will have some IQ issues, some will be harder to spot than others but they will be there. A tiny sensor packed full of pixels like the Note 3 will show more artifacts than a "full frame" sensor that's not nearly as densely packed. If I had to guess, I'd say that the shot posted isn't too far out of what one should expect from a sensor of this size for those conditions.

Just my opinion, but I think it actually is a low-light area. Most reviews I read/watched stated low light was an issue for this phone, or the included camera, but other cell phone cameras aren't much better.

From the looks of it, the only light in the room is coming from approx. your five o'clock position, and isn't very bright at that.

My iPHone was almost as bad.

I did a few more shots and they turned out just a bit better in Auto mode. One of the shots was in Rich Tone. Do NOT use that for any kind of low light shooting! Wow....bad. Auto works probably the best and that's not saying much. What's strange is when taking the photo, the room looks pretty lit up on the screen. Take the pic and it jumps down two/three notches to lower lit. It's not a 'well lit' area but I guess I expected a 'bit' better shots than what it took. Needless to say it's not a good low light camera, which is ridiculous given it's 'Flagship' status as a notch above everything else presently....except the camera....
