The difference between your scenes just ends up being the widgets on your 7 home screens.
Think of it like this. You have a standard 7 homescreens, but each of your scenes have the potential to be different.
I will use your work setup. You want Zulu time, theres a Duel Time clock that you can set up so you have the current time as well Zulu. Your background would be something fitting for the job (no nude women), Speed dial contacts, and all your usual settings Wifi, 3G, GPS would all be "pre-set". Think of it like a preset radio station on your radio.
So when you switch to another scene, you can change all those settings without the worry you have to take all the time to put everything backk just to go to work.
The key is having what you need (want) and where you want it for the appropriate time or activity.
I'll need a Work scene, with appropriate wallpaper (maybe Co. Logo),
I'll want bookmarks to some frequently visited websites, email and also contacts for frequently called people. I'll have a few apps handy that I'll use for work (maybe a few games to help me get through the long boring meetings).
And then when I'm at home, I'd want different wallpaper, different apps etc. I won't need quick access to those work related websites or contacts, so I'll have different apps, games, social network apps etc for when I'm home.
I may set up a Travel scene with different clocks, switches for Wifi, airplane mode etc. i may have the music app closer to the front page then in other scenes and I'll want links to Marriott website and Continental Airlines etc etc.
Some of the scenes will have a lot of the same widgets & apps, but maybe in a different location based on how often you use that app, widget during that activity (work, home, travel etc.)
I know I'll be spending a lot of time this weekend trying to configure my Hero
