Call of Duty Ghost in coming in about 3 days now, I thought I would start a conversation about the game. I'll be getting it for PC, and will be the first First person Shooter that I ever play with a PC. I'm relatively new to PC gaming.

Oh and to be a bit more on-topic: FPS games are amazing on PC but CoD.... dunno. There are so many more game styles with fps out there.

(in no order, here are some of my fav fps games)

Unreal Tournament (+2004)
Doom 3.
Half Life 1 & 2 (probably best games of all time)
BioShock (not toally an FPS)
Bioshock Inifinite
MassEffect 3 (especially the multiplayer, very intense )
Fallout 3
Crysis (obviously )
Battlefield (especially 1942)
Return to Castle Wolfenstien
Far Cry
Medal of Honor
Deus Ex (only contender for best game against Half-Life)
FEAR
STALKER SoC (amazing game, probably cheap on steam too)
Quake 3
Portal (not a shooter, but a must buy)


CoD is great for what it is but PC FPS gaming is much more than CoD



Grab yourself a copy of the Orange box from steam though if you can. Half Life 1, 2, EP 1, Ep 2, and Portal for like $20.

Yes they are, but Ghost will be the first one ive played as a fps. There will be more.

I agree Half-Life has always been the best game ever for pc.
however Half-Life 2 if you got the sniper rifle, shoot someone in the foot and they die...

You did leave out Team Fortress Classic.
I think TFC was the best game out there. But now it is riddle with bots
and you also left out Counter-Strike.

Ghosts is fun as a multi player but the campaign was a bit of a let down. The graphics are unbelievable if you have the system to punch it up to max!

I just finally got it last week, and in all honesty, it's such a bad game. Normally I love call of duty as a franchise and I really have enjoyed their past games. Well aside from MW2 and WaW. The multiplayer is already a hacked mess and the single player has exact scenes with different character models cut from MW2 and possibly other Call of Duty games. Just looks lazy to me.

I was wondering about that^ I finally checked out some reviews and they were shocking numbers of negative reviews.

Is this game that bad?

I think people - particularly reviewers who often seem to feel a professional imperative to be the first to go negative - are getting a little bored with CoD. Hardly surprising really: it's been going a long time.

Have to say that I find the whole terminally-stupid-baddies-that-just-keep-coming-till-you-pass-the-waypoint thing very .. 90s. It is kinda lame they're still using it. Most games have been making some attempt at a bit more realism and better AI for years now.

As for re-using setups from previous versions: they've been doing that for ages. I've only played a couple of the more recent CoD games but even I recognised a bunch of setups I'd seen back in their early WWII games. Don't mind that too much: the graphics are better and there are still some differences.

As for alostpacket's list of games - I really like quite a few of them .. or at least, I did when I played them years ago. I find that games as early as those do kinda feel their age these days
