Official "I JUST ORDERED THE NEXUS 5!!!" Thread

Jesus this thing is sexier than the pictures would suggest. It's updating right now.

I haven't put my sim card in just yet. First I'm going to unlock it then play around with it a bit on wifi before loading the Sim.

It is just a hell of a lot lighter than I thought it would be!!!

Edit: I am glad I order a case, the camera part comes with a sticky over the lens that I will leave on until I have a case. Reminds me of the old Droid Incredible that had the camera sticking out that made you cringe every time you set it down on a hard table with the camera touching.

Just in case you're still on the fence of getting a white or black one, this video my MKBHD (my fav tech reviewer) points out hardware differences between the two you probably didn't know besides the obvious color. No other reviewer has mentioned this. This could possibly change your opinion after you have ordered. I finally have both a white and black one and noticed the difference myself. It hasn't bothered me though. Google Nexus 5: Black vs White! - YouTube

I'm glad I'm in a building where someone's always there to sign for packages.

I don't think I could stand the thought of it sitting out there waiting for me to get home

I hear you on that! Luckily my UPS guy is pretty cool. Leaves my packages in the basement entrance. If no signature is required then i'll make the trip home as soon i see it was delivered.

I'm right there with ya.

Then I'm running to sprint to get my SIM and show it off to the local guys there

ahh then there's that dilemma. I still don't know whether i'm doing tmobile or sprint. I'm switching from verizon. I can actually get a 20% business discount with sprint and i have 3 lines that would be switched over if i went that route but a few of my friends with Sprint hate it. Still undecided but am leaning towards tmobile for now.

The data network in most places is not great. However, I'm on wifiv90% of the time and they're voice services have always been reliable.

Sprints also got great customer support and are very root friendly.

However, If I paid the bill (currently still on my families plan), I'd go the T-Mobile route.

A word of warning to anyone on MetroPCS: Even if you do all the pre-work getting a simcard and whatnot, you cannot activate it on Metro's network unless you actually go into an authorized store to have the IMEI number programmed into the network. In the mess, I think I screwed up my old phone which means I'm not sure I have a working phone number right now!

Still in "Departure Scan" mode and it's supposed to arrive tomorrow. This means that it has to be in my city before midnight to be put out on the truck for delivery. In the old days, there was more tracking information. Sometimes I wish that there was a GPS tracker on the trucks so that you could see your truck driving to your location, similar to what you see when you're tracking an airline flight. I'm pretty sure that it will show up regionally sometime today and be in our city by midnight or else it's going to be late (boo).
