Nova Launcher

Nova I am sure it will run just fine. You may find some minor bugs with running on KitKat but Kevin (dev) is very fast and efficient with providing updates to his users.

My Nexus 5 will be arriving today at some point. I will test Nova and be sure to let you all know.

I have tested Google Home on my HTC One and once you have used Nova for so long... it doesn't even compare. I am sure Kevin will add in any new eye candy or overall improvements you would find in Google Home... I would imagine he has his plans already mapped out.

Have just finished installed and restoring Nova launcher.

Came across a couple of issues.

As we already knew would be the case, the translucent bars at the top and bottom are not present, looks a bit average.

When I first set it up, coming out of the app draw, or out of an app, had a huge lag to view the homescreen. A reboot seems to have fixed this though, but it still doesn't feel as smooth as the stock launcher.

I'm running nova - one of the first things I installed.

There are only 2 slight issues that I have noticed so far - no OK google from the home screen. You have to tap it first. Not much of a problem!

The other thing is the wallpaper not extending behind the softkeys and notification bar. Again, not much of a problem (although it would be nice). I have the notification bar turned off, so the wallpaper does fill that area anyway.

I would expect that both these would be addressed in future updates, and I'm fairly sure that that won't be long - nova devs are great! :D

And talk about slick. This phone is awesome fast!

I also put the voice search in my dock. I also used custom icons.

The other four icons are folders :D

That is one of the most frustrating problems I have with this phone. The "screen" is larger than my S3 but the soft keys take up lots of territory thus making my viewing size actually smaller than my S3:(:(:(
One of the best features of a Nexus phone is that it's so easy to root. On my Nexus 4 and 7 I took out the navigation bar and replaced it with gesture pie controls so I gain that lost screen real estate. For the Nexus 5 I'll do the same once the developers update their pie control apps for KitKat.

And, if you don't care for Pie controls (I don't), most ROMs and mods allow you to shorten the height of the navigation bar. That's what I did for my Gnex and now for my G2. :)
