Alright, so I have had my Hero all of ONE DAY, SINCE SUNDAY. You know how when you put it on standby, you can still receive texts and calls? Well, now I can't for some odd reason. I need to press the standby button to make the screen come on, then the text message will come through. This is a problem. I cannot be having late texts. I also just called my phone, while on standby, no noise was made even though the volume is on and turned up. The screen did change and the call did come, but there was no warning. If it was in my pocket, I would have never noticed. The only things I have done that are bad with this phone are:

- Yesterday, I charged for a full 4 hours because that was reccomended. I then charged it today for about.. 2 hours until it turned green. I did not charge for the reccomended 4 hours. Is this a problem?

- I plugged it into my computer to see if I could download some music from iTunes (still haven't figured out how) and I had to go, and since it was charging through the computer, I had to unplug it. I did access the "Safely Remove Hardware" thing so I didn't damage it, I hope. It wasn't fully charged.

Can anyone help?

by the way, I downloaded an app called "Lil Wayne Ringtones" and downloaded 2 songs.

What do you mean by standby mode? You should be looking at blinking trackball when you get a sms and your phone is locked.

you might wanna see if the ring tone you selected has too less a volume, maybe? I remember seeing a thread on increasing your tone time some where..am sure looking around might help you

EDIT : not sure if this helps... check it out. http://androidforums.com/sprint-htc-hero/19422-ringer-lag-rings-other-end-few-times-before-ringing-hero.html

Nope. I dont think thats a problem at all. Most users wouldnt even wait for that four hours you did when they get their phones lol..

as far as I know, you would not be able to sync your music using Itunes, thats a apple product and not compactable. You might wanna download htc sync software from their site or just copy and paste after mounting your sd card once you connect your phone to your phone. Thats how I do it and it works well.

Can anyone help?

hang in there...believe me when I say this forum is the best when it comes to helpful folks :)

This is a long shot guess, since as you said you don't seem to have done much with your phone yet, but did you by chance install any automatic task killer application? It may be killing some tasks vital for messages, which are then restarted once you unlock the phone.

If you plug your phone in via USB, drag down the notification bar and then pick the option to mount the SD card, you can drag and drop music on. I have mine organised like this:
/sdcard/media/audio which contains music, alarms, notifications and ringtones. Android detects that and it makes sure ringtones don't end up in the music app and veis versa.

This should help you sync with iTunes: http://androidforums.com/android-media/1002-sync-g1-itunes-windows.html

Don't worry about the battery, if the light goes green it's as charged as it's ever gonna be. Li-Ion batteries are best suited to smaller more frequent charges. It's only the first time you have to fully charge the battery, and that's probably only a left over from the older batteries (where you had to 'train' them to hold the maximum charge).
