On my Note 3, all of a sudden when I detach the s-pen (from locked screen) it opens up my home screen automatically. It seems to bypass my swipe screen and just opens my phone instantly. In the past detaching the spen (from locked black screen) simply lights up the screen but still remains on the locked screen and doesn't go anywhere until I physically swipe the screen. I write a lot of notes when on the go, making the s pen's double tap feature on the lock screen very useful for me. But now, my phone auto opens, when all I need to do is write on an action memo from the locked swipe screen. Can someone please help me resolve the issue.

welcome to AF!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if you go to your phone's settings then under the controls tab select "s-pen" and then select "pen detachment option" and select "action memo".....should work now....it does for me......the memo opens up on the lockscreen.

My S-Pen experiences have been nothing short of terrific. Little did I know what I was about to learn and how positive of an impact it would have on my workflow, since this is the first Samsung Note I've had.

As everyday goes by I learn more and more while getting better and better at using it. I must say I had no idea what a great model this Note 3 would turn out to be.

This is a 'feature' if you don't have pop-up memo enabled.

Since you're removing the Pen, you do have the intention of using the Note, right? ;)

So it's just removing the extra layer you need to do and get right into it. If you are concerned with security, step it up to pattern or something other than swipe (since swipe really isn't secured anyways).

This is also present with the Note 2.

Thanks you for all your responses guys. I will replace my swipe with a lock. But I will miss the camera shortcut on my swipe screen. I really need that feature too. Any ideas on how I can do this? I love my N3 A LOT but I don't appreciate that I cannot modify all the screens the way I like, there are always some type of limitations. I've been reading about launchers and came across NEXT launcher. Is it true that this launcher does not affect any of the SPEN,TW, widgets features? (which I really wanna keep!) Do any of you have experience with NEXT Launcher?

I have a Note 2 and Note 10.1. I use Nova Prime on both devices. I can honestly say that the S Pen still works as well as all the other Samsung stuff that goes with it (cascade/split window view, pop up S Note, S Pen launch menu, etc). The only thing you might have issues with would be Samsung dedicated TW widgets. Samsung made sure their widgets don't work well in other launchers other than TW.

So Samsung removed another feature in 4.3? My Note 2 running 4.1.2 can have both swipe and PIN enabled for lock screen. I, too, use shortcuts on the lock screen. Though there is the extra PIN entry step needed to launch the app from lock screen.

You may need to look at a third party lock screen app like WidgetLocker. Might be something you are looking for. I never used it so not sure.

Thanks! I may have to look into widget locker. You're lucky with your note 2! Not unless I'm missing something, on my note 3, I can only add a shortcut or widget on a swipe lock screen, not on pin, pattern or signature lock screens.
You're not missing anything. Unfortunately, from what I gathered, they removed that feature from the Note 3. Like waking S Voice with another command (like "My Precious" LOL). I have disable my Note 2's auto update as I don't want to lose these with the 4.3 update (if it ever comes).
