I am curious about the Moto X and the Nexus 5--giving thought to leaving VZW and going GSM at the end of the year.

As of yesterday, this quote holds true for me. The GNex has been an awesome device, but it was time to move on; I managed to do so in both carriers and devices.

Goodbye VZW/GNex, hello T-Mobile/Moto X/$$ (saved).

This is quite possibly the best thing I've done for myself, since becoming an Android user/mobile enthusiast (I like that term ). I'm sure the Nexus 5 is going to be awesome, but I actually really like the little things Moto has done with this device. Worst case, I have the freedom to sell and upgrade.

I had the opportunity to show the Moto X to one of my folks, and he commented that "it feels as small as the iPhone (holding with one hand, anyway), but with a nice bigger screen". I winked.

I'm holding on to mine until it dies... I'm not changing my old Alltel unlimited data contract and cannot afford a new phone at full price.

I was kinda in the same boat. Hadn't really kept up on what was new, but my Gnex was great and perfectly fine. However, gf was in need of a new phone, and with the VZA EDGE stuff, it worked. I EDGE'd two LG G2s, one on her line, one on our unused 3rd line, and then swapped one onto mine to keep my unlimited data, etc. The Gnex currently resides on line 3 though, reverted back to stock, because I'm letting someone use it, and I think all the options in Sourcery would just overwhelm that person lol. Love the G2 so far, but my Gnex has been by far the best phone I've had to date.

Bought the wife an LG G2 the weekend of the Verizon "glitch" for us unlimited data folks. Few days later went out and paid full price to get me one! I'm hanging on to the unlimited data as long as possible. I really liked the Nexus but this new phone is outstanding. Never knew what is was like to not have to worry about the battery dying by mid-morning until getting this phone. This new one easily last two days.

Gonna ditch verizon, and get a Nexus 5 and sign up for Aio wireless. Wife has had good luck with them.

My gnex will become yet another toy for my daughter to play with. She loves smartphones and tablets.

OG Droid -> Galaxy Nexus -> 5s

Some reasons:

1) Quality speaker. As somebody pointed out the Nexus speaker is pretty pathetic.

2) Camera ease of use and processing. I like the way the Apple device produces nice looking pictures and looking/sounding videos. The low quality loud audio recordings on my Nexus was huge annoyance.

3) Battery life, particularly during idle and music playing. Nexus had a particularly hard time with this one, due to power hungry LTE chip? I realize the Nexus has a bigger screen and that Android is much more powerful, and I've always felt awesome having two spare batteries that I can easily swap in, but Apple just seems to excel in this department. It seems like the Apple devices are capable of charging quicker too.

4) Overall stability of apps, selection of apps, quality of apps. Entering the walled garden...

5) Hardware superiority at this time. Resale value. Apple always seems to put the best stuff in their devices. Even when the Nexus came out the 4s was way ahead in graphics.

I left the iPhone 5 recently to go to a Gnex so I may be here for a bit... Those Apple devices are great for my wife and kids but just not for me.. I need a bigger screen and customization...

As soon as the prices come down Im thinking NoteII or NoteIII... Messed with the 3 in VZW yesterday while getting a sim and was pretty impressed...

I just bought the Nexus 5, but I've always been pretty happy with the Galaxy Nexus. The only problem I have with it is that I can't get the back cover to snap down on all the snap points. Luckily I have a bumper cover for it so that's not a big problem.

I am still rocking my Gnex and will be through the end of the year. This phone has made it through good times and bad with me. Great device that I have customized the heck out of, change set ups daily on it, and just burn the heck out of it.

It's still pulling through though, I love this device.

Going to be a sad day when I let it go. I think I will be moving onto the Note 3

I've decided to buy a Nexus 5 and move to T-Mobile. The overall specs on the phone, price point and cost savings with T-Mobile won me over. Also I travel for work and its nice to know I can have data whenever I want to check gmail, etc. on the go.

I would have picked up the Moto X, but no Moto Maker + no wood back option = no sale.

I'm still going to customize the GNex and post images until the custom ROM scene picks up for the Nexus 5.

Ginny is now in semi-retirement, to be called upon ONLY if my new Note 3 needs work. Welcome aboard Gina, my Note 3! So Ginny took her place of honor next to Dee, my Motorola Droid, who is now officially retired and archived.

It took a few times turning the Gnex back on in order to get necessary files, sounds, etc. so I could put them on the Note 3, but I think she can now get a good rest. Ginny deserves it: I wore that poor phone OUT rooting, ROMming and modding her. And she took everything I threw at her with rare good grace. She did, however, get so slow and clunky and eccentric that the Note 3 was welcomed with open hands.

I moved on to the LG G2. Pleasantly surprised how great the phone was when I got it. I actually don't mind LG UI.

My Gnex is just sitting on the coffee table. I might flash 4.4 on it at some point?

Anyways. LG G2, highly recommended.

How does my gnex know that my nexus 5 arrives today? Phones been rebooting itself multiple times a day, generally when I'm talking on it.

Just gotta make it to December 15th when my verizon contract it up...

Well my Note II will be in tomorrow.. I'm just hoping I'm as happy with the camera as I am on this Genex... It blows away the camera on my work phone (iphone4) and is better with inside photos than my iphone5 I had... On the plus side my Genex is going to a friend so he can be rid of his Resound... Surely an upgrade..

I gave up the VZW Gnex a year and a half ago and went back to my TBolt (needed $$). Switched to Sprint and picked up the EVO 4G LTE. Gave my sister that and went back to the Gnex. Thought I got water damage on the Gnex and bought the HTC One. Sold that on Ebay and using the Gnex until my Nexus 5 gets delivered.

I've realized 2 things after typing all that out:

1. I'm a phone whore
2. I'll only get Nexus phones from now on

Ditched VZW for an N5 on T-mobile. Better signal, less cost, faster device. I always had mixed feelings about the Gnex due to the issue with hand-offs between 3g and LTE data and horrendous battery life. I'm loving the N5 now.

I was close to saying goodbye but I think I'll stick with the Galaxy Nexus for now. I'm hearing too much mixed reviews for the Nexus 5. The battery life is concerning for me. I'm a power user. Plus, the GF won't get a new phone until Spring time 2014. I don't mind the wait. There will be some new tech by then. My GN still has life. Who knows....I may still get the Nexus 5. One thing is for sure, it will be a Moto or a Nexus. Can't get away from stock android.

Paid full price for a moto maker 32gb moto x and kept my unlimited on Verizon. Don't regret it one bit. T-Mobile is non existent in half my state, and I don't want to worry about roaming. I didn't want a bigger phone and I love my amoled screen, so the nexus 5 didn't really do it for me.

The Moto X is a faster, sleeker Galaxy nexus with a better screen, speakers and battery life. The active notifications and touchless controls live up to the hype. I was even able to get it in a dinc color combo :

I still love my nexus 7.

I haven't used it too much yet, but it is quick and pictures are in focus. Even my incredible had a better camera than the gnex.

Yeah the GNex camera I think was one of the bigger let downs on our device.

You can definitely tell the difference in our device, even compared to older models, like you mentioned.

My main problem was dynamic range, which seems to be pretty poor. Either things where whited out or too dark if there is a lot of light and darkness in a picture.

Mine doesn't really have issues with focus or anything like many people claim though.

I was very happy with my GNex - typically, I start itching for something new around the 1yr mark, but the GNex kept me satisfied right up until the last couple, even through a 1 week dalliance with a Galaxy S3. Jelly Bean really pumped new life into the phone.

Last week, though, a Moto X - clad in navy blue and silver - arrived at my doorstep and I knew my relationship with the GNex was over. The GNex got wiped clean & had the factory image re-applied yesterday.

In RE: the camera, it's distinctly mediocre. Better than the Galaxy Nexus, which is not exactly high praise, but definitely not as good as the iPhone 5S that one of my coworkers has. I don't care all that much - my digital SLR hangs from my shoulder many days, and after nearly 6 years of smartphones, it's a rare day when I snap an image with one that I'll care about a week later.
