So I finally got the 2.0 root off that the guy before me had this phone on. He rooted it with droid mod, and that seemed pretty easy to use. I'm wondering and if there is someone who has more experince with this than I what is the easiest way for me to root my stock 2.1 droid?

I'm looking forward to having root agian..

So if I read what your saying right to root again I'll have to go to 2.0?

No, you will have to use RSD (a software tool that Motorola uses) to flash SPRecovery over the stock recovery. You'll have to download the 32 bit or 64 bit drivers (depending on your system) and, of course, the SPRecovery SBF file (which, like I said, will be flashed over the stock recovery using RSD).

Once you have replaced the stock recovery with SPRecovery, you will have the ability to flash ROMs that have SU permissions (root). Once those ROMs are flashed, you will have root on your phone. Watch the video in the link that the other guy posted above. That will help a lot. Using this method to root 2.1 is very simple and can be done in 15 minutes or less.

blaaaah guys.. Back out of this thread, go to the Stickys above all the post's. Click on Now You Can Live Without Fear of Bricking- follow the steps to obtain RSD Lite and Android 2.0.1.. keep in mind that this is the long way.. and imo, the best way because you'll get a handy tool called RSD Lite, which saves your a** incase you ever brick your phone... after you do that, the person who did the video has another video in youtube called How To Root Your Droid EASY WAY or something in the likes, follow that, and your rooted. TAADAA.... once you do that load a ROM to get rid of that pesty OTA message, or go through ADB to eliminate that.. either way, those are other steps that your not asking for..for now, the first two things I mentioned are your key.
