I didn't find this thread mentioned on the nexus 5 xda threads but it does support kit kat now so might as well spread the info. For those who never used viper4android, on the FX version, it is more than just a equalizer. You get to put in some tweaks like audio gain, reverb effect, bass boost, and a few more. Best of all it stays on no matter what (you can turn it off). You can use it on Google play music, dood's music player, pandora, 8tracks, etc.

This requires root and installation is very easy.
(-UI setting- in the viper menu is where you can unlock the hidden audiophile stuff I mentioned)

Here's the xda thread of the app

The files are not flash zips they are just regular zips with 2 apk files compressed, one for gingerbread and the for jellybean+beyond

thank you so much! finally got around to trying this out last night after having mild success with using dsp manager, it is definitely a huge improvement and highly configurable, just as good if not much better than beats audio since you're able to fine tune everything exactly to how you want it, if anyone else is missing their beats audio i'd highly recommend trying this out, i still had to edit my mixer_paths.xml to increase my headphone volume from the default of 15 to 18 to make it louder but now my music sounds perfect

Hmm, tried this a few weeks ago and it did nothing. The sound wouldn't change.

I miss ac!d sound mod and was hoping this could replace it but it didn't work for me. :/

Meh I'm getting tired of the app cause the update (4.4.2) is making it not work. Every time I plug on headphones I have to force close viper (even with force option enabled) and run it again so the effects can start. Was using acid on my old lg motion, Google music all the time on that thing.

When I tried this I was on 4.4 and went through all the troubleshooting steps with no results.

Tried again after I posted in this thread on 4.4.2 and same thing.

Perhaps it's the custom ROM? Not sure but I sure miss my audio quality.

Oh by the way did you set music effects in android settings>sound>music effects>viper when you were using it? Maybe even freezing musicFX apk?

i noticed this too, also using a lot more of the battery, use to come home with 70% and now i am at 50%, and this is with a lot less usage than before, if only music didn't sound so bad on stock, never had this problem on my htc evo design 4g, always sounded good even on stock
